I know I'm not really a New Citizen now but you're all always so helpful.
My last few level 4 storyline security missions for both SOE and Fed Navy have offered large standing increases and very little else. Is there a point where my faction/corporate standings mean I no longer get those useful implants as rewards? If I turn down such a mission, especially those against other races, what might it do to my standings?

Random is random, your sample set is not large enough to come to a conclusion about the implants. But I don't think there are any changes if your standings get past a certain point.
There is no penalty to declining storyline missions unless you manage to get two from the same agent in a four hour period and decline them both. There is a standings hit if you accept and then cancel.

It might be possible that as you gain standing you get higher chance of better missions and I think for storylines faction standing is the holy grail of payouts so it might be the case. Those +4 implants aren't worth crap anyway. I'm not 100% on that however. I just vaguely recall reading something about mission quality and standings. |

My standings with SoE is like 9.8 or something, and i still get those storyline missions where they offer the 20 mill isk implants. |

I think you'll always get offered the storyline missions, as long as you keep doing regular missions in bunches of 16.
The regular missions can only affect your standings towards the specific agent you're interacting with, and towards his/her NPC corporation. If you want the benefits of having standings with a whole empire, storyline missions are it. I think for most people the rewards become less important than the whole-empire standings increases.
As far as refusing the missions, that usually falls under the rule that "you can refuse a mission from an agent with no repercussions every 4 hours"; the storyline missions come from a different agent than the one you've been doing the 16 regular missions for, and typically come rarely enough that the 4-hour rule shouldn't pose too much of a limit.
What I typically do is put a personal note in the agent's info page, with the last time I refused a mission from him/her. That way it's easy to check if it's been 4 hours, even if I operate for multiple agents / multiple missions at the same time. |

In my experience(only 6 months ) there are only two level 4 storyline missions that offer implants I've seen:
Materials For War Preparation (Trade mission) offer +4 implant Shipyard Theft (Combat mission) offer Mindlink or 3% hardwire |

Reward does change. You mission reward and I think also time bonus is figured on a base for that mission then your standing and the sec status of the system are figured in as well as your skills. As far as the implants go it is dependent upon the mission. The mission either gives and implant as a reward or it does not (not including the chance on drop of certain implants in specific missions). What I am uncertain of is if the specific mission pool or chances of getting various missions with in that pool change as standings change. |

Of course, rewards are affected by missions you get, too :)
I have noticed it as my standing increases with agents. Granted I have not run missions much in recent years but I used to run them a lot. Also when you gain access to an agent via standings you need to relog before they will actually offer you missions so maybe there is some type of mechanic that locks in agent standing related stuff at the beginning of each session or the agent you were dealing with you already had maxed out or something. I'm not sure. |

yeah only more ISK but they won't offer implants instead of ISK.
I run missions 6 months, collecting info in excel. I can see only 2 specific missions offer implants. |

I commonly turn-down storylines that offer poor rewards for the effort, or are not worth the standing hit to opposing factions.
You can turn-down any mission, including any storyline mission, once every four hours PER AGENT. There is NO PENALTY.
FYI, you can pick your storyline agent by choosing where you do the sixteenth mission of the same level for the FACTION. It doesn't matter where you do the other fifteen missions. You always get the CLOSEST available agent for the FACTION. |

Thank you to all for the replies.
I am now clear that turning down storyline missions does not have an impact on standings, despite "This is an important mission, which will have significant impact on your faction standings."
My last (at least) 3 missions have been "just" a largish standing increase (30%) which in reality translates to about .1%. In future I will check the number of missions completed and find a different agent for the 16th.

For what it is worth: Standings Increase with specific corporation
