Hi, currently on day 6 and I'm training for mining/industry and my attributes are in memory/intelligence. In a few weeks I will probably remap my attributes for focus on exploring or planetary interaction and after that maybe on pvp. Anyhow, should I just use my main character for this or maybe create another character for say pvp (military) fighting?
Thanks! |

That is really a personal call based on what you want to do in game, your RP and immersion levels and ability to pay for both.
What I can say is that I strongly recommend against remapping at all in the first couple months and beyond that not to do a very focused remap for a long while. If you do make sure that you always have at least one available remap or if you are using your final remap and will then be locked out of remapping for a long time make sure that it is a very general remap.
If you want a very focused remap for max Sp / Hr. then you pretty much will almost need to have 2 toons training. Early on in the game you will need to be all over with skills and what you think that you want to train today and what you want to train tomorrow and next week and next month are often very different things.
I did a very focused remap on my main early on and wound up making that toon nearly useless. Eventually my alt which stayed with the original remap became my main as was far more useful even with far few skill points. |

If you have to ask then you don't need an alt.

Creating an alt after 6 days in game? Seriously, get to know the game first. For like a year or three. |

You will know when it is time to create a new character on the same account, or to start a second (third, fourth, fifth, ...) account.
I started my first alt (second account) almost a month after I started, when I was in dire need of someone to haul ore and salvage missions for me. I now have 5 paid accounts (down from 7), and I'm trying to get down to 4. |

If you are enjoying the game, commit to a military character by the current power of two offer.
If you're unsure then just chill with 1 character, two characters means 2 skill trains especially chars in contrasts like yours.
Make them on different accounts purely for accessibility. Can log an indy and PvP char at same time is perfect. Mine while blowing up the enemies ;).
My take, welcome to Eve.

Some skills need to be trained on all characters, because they affect how well you can fly any ship. So, basically, Armor, Shields, Navigation, Targeting, Engineering, Trade, a lot of the skills in these categories will be duplicates if you create alts.
On the other hand, having your industry separate from your combat/PVP means you can take a break from fighting your enemies whenever you wish. If you get into wars or faction warfare with the PVP character, other people won't stop hunting you just because you feel like taking a break this weekend, but you can just log in the anonymous industry alt and do some work.
Keep in mind, though, that you cannot train skills for more than one character, unless you pay PLEX to unlock that option for a month at a time. So you either stop training your current character in order to train the alt, OR the account subscription costs you double, OR you can get another account and pay two subscriptions.
The costs are a strong incentive to just have a single character. |
