I don't run into too many of my fellow business owners during game time and I am curious about something. Since the great pirate raids of last week caused CONCORD to drastically adjust so many system security levels, I've recently enacted a new standing order for all of our remote outpost operations. I ordered that all mining crews and personnel relocate their operations back to HQ at the end of each shift to protect what few company assets we have until CONCORD can give us more assurance that this kind of incident will be better guarded against in the future. This of course will hamper our ability in the short term to provide the needed raw materials to our customers in the manufacturing industry, however I feel this will have a negligable effect on our customers as compared to the problems that getting caught in anther pirate raid would cause; at least for the time being.
I'm curious if any of the other corps out there have altered their operating schedules and procedures as a result of that incident as well. I realize that many of the larger megacorps already operating in hostile territory were probably the least effected by that incident, so I suppose I'm really wondering about are the other smaller operations like ourselves operating primarily within empire space. Just a conversation starter.

Well, we definately beefed up our combat miners. One 1 is left in a frigate and it is a Rifter.
We also had to halt our frigate contruction lines due to the Zydrine shortages. Of course this opened our mining divion up to direct profits.

We got battlecruisers so pilots don't bother us anymore :)

Yeah right...
Anyways, yes it is a problem that piracy is rising the way it is, and the only solution to this is really to protect yourself. Seems we cannot rely on CONCORD to fend off the pirates - but i know that corpmates need to rely on each other... Some mine, some haul and some kills the pirates...

Hey Morpheus, where are you based out of?
I'm going to be joining a new Corp soon, and I may have a Business proposition for you. I have to run it by my new CEO first :)

whats so unbelievable about the fleet of Thoraxs/and a few Moas/ that do my bidding?
And btw guys you don't have 2 have a large fleet anymore to hold of pirates. It can be done with mid-lvl cruisers like the stabber, blackbird, or Vexor... Just have about 4 of them covering for your mining op (with GOOD combat pilots, i can't stress this enough that you have 2 be GOOD at fighting or you will die) and you will have no trouble from pirates

Bentguru: sure, you have cruisers - we all do, but when you was saying you had Battlecruisers, i thought you meant to say you had Battleships...
There is no such thing as Battlecruisers - not in EVE at any rate...

Bonepart: Our headquarters are located in the Hjortur System, Metropolis Region. Right now, due to our size and the pirate fluctuations, we're only operating within 10 jumps of our home system. Until we can get ourselves better equipped and skilled, I feel this is our best course of action. Feel free to contact me anytime I'm online which is usually from around 2300 GMT to around 0500 GMT or so during the week.

When all that went down, we moved our entire operation back to 1.0 space. That took us two days to move everything. We have since moved back out into the wild and are doing good for ourselves.

Morpheus:
Ah, I'm sure I'm outside of your range then. The point is rather moot though, since poor planning on my part has left me without a Factory I can use within 30 jumps. I curse my canceling the rent of my private factories when I joined my previous Corp ^_^;
Maybe if I can finagle some slots out of someone for the Corp I can start up my Manufacturing again.

Interestingly, Concord underwent a nine month study by the Republic Security Force Guard recently.
This study, presented in this thread, gives a firm outline for Concord to follow to better represent the security efforts we all need.
