One. Wouldn't mind a second account, but won't be getting it for awhile, if ever.

Its just that it seems a bit like cheating or metagaming and I just don’t get some aspects of the mentality in this game. I.e. logging is bad but scouting with a second account is 'smart' and encouraged.
It depends what you use that character for, I use mine to protect my mining barge and when necessary move ore out for refining. Being in a small corp with 4 players, we have 7 accounts between us. 2 of us can mine, haul & protect our assets.
At the end of the day it's another €14.95 per month for CCP.
It’s the moral discussion concerning this topic I don’t get. Logging is bad, evil, cowardly etc and using a second account to scout and support etc is considered smart and is encouraged by the same ppl who flame the loggers. I can’t see the one being any worse than the other.

Originally by: Celeste Coeval One account cause I don't think eve should be about how much RL money you have. You might aswell buy ISK...which tbh is what you do with simultaneous alt's you buy "slaves" to generate more isk for you. Thats meta gaming as far as i'm concerned. It seems when it comes to meta gaming in eve it's one rule for "them" one rule for "us".
Btw this isn't a flame it's an observation.
Despite having 3 accounts similar thoughts run around my head sometimes. But truth be told I only ever run 1 at a time, unless changing skills (can't run more than 1 for long anway!). Plus my other two are mostly exploring other aspects of the game and cost me iskwise in game neither has made more than a few k testing fittings in belts, they are like kids or something eating up all my resources. _______

1 pvp main - this one 1 cov ops alt
Usually use just this one but use the alt when it's needed. Training the alt for caldari stuff now so i can use him to make me some money doing missions and whatnot.

At my top I had 4. One for each race.
But my caldari has hit the "end game", lvl4 navy mission running solo with my eyes closed. Transfered that character to nathan's account, down to 1 account now.

Originally by: Gadfly Hawke One. How does anybody play more than one character at a time?
I play 3, quite often simultaneously. I do this by having 2 desktop PC's and a laptop set up on my desk at home. The accounts roles are pvp/pve combat(amarr, up to bs but focusing on t2 frigs atm), mining/trade(can fly exhumers), and hauler/mfg/support combat (gallente, can fly cruisers and transport ships, soon freighter). I find the game to be more enjoyable when I am able to be my own mining op in 0.0 and am able to have a wingman at all times for running missions/ratting. That is not to say that I do not enjoy playing with other people, it is just that sometimes I prefer to go it on my own, and when it comes to mining, when I end up in an op with 3 other people and am doing the tanking, 2/3 of the mining yield and hauling but have to live with a 1/4 split of the end result, it is more profitable for me to mine on my own ;P (yea im greedy, so what, have to be able to keep myself in cruisers and frigs for pvp right?) -=^=-

Moral? I've no idea what logging is as I'm a new player, but I've found having 2 characters with different skill sets is what I enjoy about the game.
My opinion is that everyone should play how they want, it's not against the rules and as such everyone is well within their rights to have 0,1,2 or 27 accounts if they want.

Edited by: Billy Sastard on 03/11/2006 15:07:16 'logging' is the practice of logging out of the game as soon as you run across a situation where you know you are going to lose your ship. i.e. a bubble camp in 0.0, you warp to the gate and get caught by a bubble which has pulled you say 20km or so from the gate and you see 5 or 7 guys there with the little red - sign on them. Instead of doing the right thing (which is either approach the gate a full speed, or start fighting for your life) you hit ctrl+q befor they start locking you. It is a most underhanded and cheap tactic that losers and gimps use to avoid losing their assets. Regardless, this thread is about multiple accounts, not logging, so I'll shut up now -=^=-

2 accounts.
One is my 41m SP minmatar fighter, whom I've played with for 3 years. This one is my experimental industry character, used to explore that part of the game.

I didn't know you could do that, it seems a lot better than losing 100m to me so I will do that from now on...

I really hope that those with multiple characters are in the minority. If not, EVE is being supported by much less than 150 subscribers. If the average acct is 2 and 10% leave, then CCP will be down 20,000 subscribers or nearly 300K per month.
I understand that it is possible to 'catch up' to senior players by creating several specialized accounts that total 50 million or more skill points, but wow. Very gimmicky.
I heart eve with my one account. However, I was thinking about starting a second one to get the learnings out of the way for my little brother should he decide to play. Probably not though. ______________________________________________________ I forget which station container has my memory implants. |
