So I patched Eve today on both my windows 7 machines it works fine. But on my windows 8 laptop the launcher will not launch. I have go directly to the bin folder and attempted to launch eve directly but this also fails. No error or anything. The eve file is out there running but not launch. I have brought up task manager and saw 6 eves running but I have shut all of those down and still nothing. Any ideas? I sent in a support ticket and it has been forwarded to technical experts.... yea... there will be a delay.... yea... |

Same issue for me on my Win7 machine, the usual workarounds aren't working at all. |

Solved by deleting my shared cache folder completely. |

It worries me that players have to devise a million workaround strategies.
If you have the same problem as me about the exe file not starting, give it 5 minutes and see if it comes up. Mine freezes too for a while, but will then eventually go. |

OP and the rest, you don't want to do this until you've exhausted every single options. You'll be effectively re-installing your EVE client all over again.
You need to be aware that this folder is a critical part of the EVE install. It's not a "cache" in the traditional sense - nearly all of the EVE resource files pre-Scylla were morphed into a cache-like structure. When you delete this folder, you're effectively wiping out 98% of your EVE install. Happy re-downloading ~13GB worth of data, either way (thru DoD or normal DL if you have the option enabled in the Launcher).
Use the tool rescache.exe in the EVE folder to verify the cache integrity before you decide to mess with the shared cache. The Launcher also maintains a checksum & validation file (in the launcher\cache) which can be deleted to force a re-check on the EVE install.

I agree this was a last resort but I was at the end of their suggestions and this did work for me as well. |
