Just catching up on the last couple episodes. You guys are doing a great job! Prom, also, great job.
There is something I want to comment on though. In both episodes you comment on a shift toward more stationary "roams" and you say that it is because of links. It's really not an important point, but just wanted to point out this isn't the case. The reason for more stationary roams is mostly just that, in our experience, you often have a better chance of a fight by just spreading out over a few busy systems, doing some light scouting around, and forming up only when there is already stuff formed up to fight you. Also it's easy to go afk and have a very casual gang format.
At different times this works better than others, depending on the current arrangement of power blocks and stuff. Also, it's not really a new thing. By people that fly with us, they are usually called PODLA roams, because it's been our modus operandi through a few alliances.
If anything, now is a better time for conventional roams then at other times in the last couple years just because the current arrangement of players in space isn't as great for stationary roams then in the past and because gang format is more important than it used to be. |

Still enjoying these podcasts, please keep'em coming ! ;-)
Here's a question : When you fly a blaster ship, what ammo do you load by default, and what's generaly the one you end up using the most ? |

default is almost always caldari navy antimatter. with small guns you are in something that likely needs to kill drones first, so CN antimatter is obv choice. with other guns it's not always the case. with large guns in a shield talos, for example, you will default to null since the whole idea of the ship is built around the fact that large blasters can actually hit well outside of hard tackle range now using null, and you are pretty well screwed if you let anything fast get in to CN antimatter ranges anyway.
void is mostly for killing stuff bigger than your guns. if it is bigger than your guns then you are likely trying to get under it's guns anyway, so void range penalty isn't a very big deal. with the boost to hybrid loading times it is now a lot easier to start with CN antimatter to kill drones and then switch to void - although it's still not usually worth it imo. this is because you will want to switch to void where it will take a while to kill the big thing that no longer has drones. however, if it is going to take a while to kill the big thing that has no drones then something else may interfere and having void loaded in developing situations is often getting caught with your pants down. |

First of all, thanks for spending time to do this podcast - which I believe is extremely helpful for many people - including myself. Also the engagement commentary section on youtupe. Love it! :)
I know that the two of you have a passion for mechanics and how stuff work in Eve and I'd love to hear your thoughs on how ammo & ship signature affects your line of though in a engagement. Which ships works best against low signature signatuee and so on. I also think that many PvP'er dont know how the signature affects both missiles and guns.
You talk alot about the ECM problems you're getting all the time, but how about tracking disruptors? I guess they could be a pain in the ass for the kiting tactics you often use.

Gents,
LOVE the podcast. I would love it much more though if you guys could address manual piloting. All the "pro" PvPers talk about it but concrete examples with a discussion as to why they did what the did is a bit rare. Keep up the great work! |

In a frig you don't want to fly in a straight line at someone with a bigger ship. If your radial velocity is low or nothing you'll die. zig-zaging is also a bad idea. There's a point in the middle of your turn where you're flying directly at the person. The correct way to do it is to fly in a spiral. That way you'll always be flying at an angle. |

Lo chaps, absolutely love the podcast. Very informative, and also you guys seem open minded, I like how you discuss things rather than seeing everything in black and white.
If you are open to suggestions on topics to cover, I'm betting a lot of people would like one on piloting/ship movement:
Things such as how to use approach, orbit, keep at range etc. How to kite, chase someone, what range to orbit at in different situations, and how to tackle people properly (i am forever overshooting targets i'm tackling). I know it's a big topic!
Just a suggestion anyway.
Keep up the good work :)

Thanks for the suggestion, yeah people have been asking a lot about this. We decided it would be really hard to do audio-only without a visual aid... we might try it anyway or maybe work on a youtube video that would better depict it. |

Sorry for double channels. I'm not sure how I managed to mess that up.
Just fixed it and switched the file on the website. Sorry to anyone who had to listen to the earlier one =/ Will make sure to not do that in the future.
About piloting, I think we will certainly give it a try at some point, as it seems like many people are interested in it! |

Ah man I'm the Harpy pilot that tried to solo you in the megathron I was hoping you were some kind of failfit PVE fit. I was bumping you like a rabbit in mating season trying to get you away from the gate, definitely didn't expect the medium neut and scram at the end gf gf let's do it again sometime

Great podcast I really like it.
Could you tell us more about how you actually pilot the ships in a fight? Sometimes the videos aren't really clear on what exactly is happening. It doesn't need to be comprehensive but maybe just some things you do with a few of the ships you use. I have been afraid to take out the new bcs due to the likely hood of an embarrasing loss against the new afs.
For example if you are trying to track someone are you clicking in space and trying to make it so your ship is paralell? Obviously if you can pulse the mwd after a few neut cycles and get some distance that works. Also if you can get your ecm drones to get a jam on the scrambler and then pulse the mwd to get range that is another thing to do. But what if you are scramed by a few smaller ships. Are you doing anything in particular?
Also when you are kiting are you clicking in space or are you using a combination of orbit and keep at range. For example I usually have the orbit at an ideal range, and the "keep at range" as large as I can. If I start to move close to the orbit range i will hit the keep at range button somewhat before I am actually in the right orbit range. I also tend to turn off my mwd to keep my agility up and only pulse it when I need to.
If you are charging at a ship with another ship how do you avoid overshooting it? I know it will vary from ship to ship but do you have a pad response for any ships in particular?
When you are trying to increase your transversal do you just spiral in and then orbit at 500 or are you clicking in space even after you get close?
Are you mostly looking at the ship you are firing on to see what it is doing or are you just watching the distance and its speed?
Beside checking to make sure you modules are turned on what else are you focusing on?
Here is a specific question: I'm having trouble catching ships with a scram before they mwd out. Yet when I am in the kiting ship and I land within scram range It seems I never have enough time to pulse the mwd to get out of range before the scram has my mwd turned off.
Could you give the exact process that you use in both cases - either trying to scram someone landing on you or trying to mwd away from someone before their scram hits. For example if you are trying to scram someone that you see warping in are you at first trying to click approach with your prop mod activated and then lock and then activate scram. Or are you first trying to lock and then activate scram and then approach and them activate prop mod?
I just think I'm doing it wrong because I often cant catch people before they get out of scram range yet I get caught myself all the time. . Anyway you obviously don't have to answer all these questions but addressing some of them would be good. Also I would be interested in hearing how some of your guests pilot their ships as well.
Sorry for the long post. I basicly want the same thing as fischig. Make faction war occupancy pvp instead of pve https://forums.eveonline.com/default.aspx?g=posts&m=53815&#post53815

You aren't the first to ask us to cover this, and I think we might have to try and do it this week. I appreciate the big list of questions a lot, will give us a really good starting place for things to talk about when we do finally do it.
