When I start client and it doesn't matter if I do it through launcher or from bin folder, client doesn't start. It is on the list of background processes. It takes 30% of processor and around 90MB of memory. And stays like that. I've tried repair tool, nada. Tried restart PC, and million other things but result is the same: 33% load on processor and 86-92 MB of memory taken, nothing happens... |

Almost the same here: exefile.exe*32 starts, sits at 25% CPU and ~86MB memory. But nothing happens. The client took quite a long time to start before the patch (long as in 2-3 minutes) but now it just does not start at all. I waited for ~45 minutes aaand nothing happened. Tried repairing the installation, starting EVE in safe mode, nothing. |

Try moving your resource cache folder to another location in your launcher settings. Click "browse" and pick another folder somewhere. Worked for me. |

What do you mean with moving the folder and then browsing? Where do I change the launcher settings?

The default path c:\programdata\ccp\shared cache file permissions is different vs custom/std folders. The issue seem to be pointing towards a permissions bug/problem with the Launcher.
Since I never used the default path, my Launcher has been fairly problem free (minus those DDoS episodes). If you're lazy like me, you can just pop it under the main install (x:\Program Files\CCP) CCP folder to keep the EVE install simple and tied together. CCP needed to explain their overcomplication of the EVE install by separating critical parts into 2 different places in the first place (programming technicalities vs common sense). |

OK, same issue here, and none of the fixes have worked for me.
First, some details.
I finally convinced my cousin to come back to EVE, and gave him the download link from the main page. The launcher downloads, and he can log in, but after clicking "play", he gets a exefile process that uses ~30% CPU, but does nothing. He has let it sit for up to an hour and it never does anything.
Fast forward to now: I have spent the last ~6 hours scouring the 'net and trying everything I can think of. Same issue. He has tried repairing, running rescache, clearing various caches, changing the shared cache location, reinstalling to a completely different drive, and trying every workaround I've seen posted on these forums.
I am a network admin IRL, so I have done all of the basic stuff like disabling antivirus, creating firewall exceptions, and even disabling his firewalls completely (temporarily), and nothing helps.
The EXEFILE process never seems to crash, no errors are created in the event log, and it seems to be running fine and using plenty of system resources in resource monitor, but nothing ever happens.
We have tried the offline installer, and launching directly through the exefile in the BIN folder.
I even remoted in to make sure he wasn't missing something stupid. No joy.
I am about at the end of my ropes, here. I have dealt with this useless crapass launcher ever since it was introduced, and it has been nothing but constant problems, but this is the first time it has actually completely stopped EVE from being playable with no obvious fix in the near future. I have never seen such a terrible launcher in any game, and I've played some pretty crappy games. This isn't even affecting my game personally, but I am so fed up with it that I'm about ready to just cancel all of my accounts. Hell, I've been playing for like 8 years, I guess I had a good run. |

Same issues in this thread -
I have been experiencing issues getting the client to run after clicking the PLAY button in the launcher. Eve was running fine before Downtime on the 6th May.
PROBLEM: I log in to the launcher fine, and the PLAY button is yellow and pressable. I click the PLAY button, and a small client icon appears in the taskbar - but does nothing further. Eventually this program stops responding in task manager.
I do not access Eve through steam, although AVAST did pick up something related to a steam.dll file along with mumbles about a Trojan. I have since uninstalled AVAST - it was causing other problems and generally being bad. Installed Microsoft Security Essentials instead.
In an attempt to solve this issue, I have:
Re-installed 3 times,
Disabled virus protection,
Run the repair.exe file as administrator. The repair tool had one error the first time I ran it (repair.exe: error: no such option: --game_executable ) - after this, if I run the repair tool again - it appears to work correctly, however the client still will not run after play is pressed.
Ticked the box in the launcher settings labelled "Download all the resource files" and restarted the launcher,
Run the rescache file as administrator - all files verified, 0 corrupt and 0 not yet downloaded,
Run the bin exe as administrator,
Run the launcher as administrator,
Currently downloading the offline installer, but I don't think this will help much.
In all cases I log in to the launcher fine, and the PLAY button is yellow and pressable. I click the PLAY button, and a small client icon appears in the taskbar - but does nothing further. Eventually this program stops responding in task manager.
I can paste log files or whatever if needed.
If anyone can assist, it would be greatly appreciated! |

You need to change cache localisation in launcher settings. Just set it to some different folder. Launcher will download it again and start the game up. |
