So a corp mate and I were on the test server the other day trying out the tier 3 Abaddon and Rokh.
I fitted the Abaddon to try some rating and was blown away how fast my cap was trashed between my guns and armor repairer. My guy is running BS Amarr speced in weapons and fitting and tanking skills maxed. Just form the little time I played it I really hated this ship. It may be cool as a vamp ship but without the normal reduction in cap use for lasers per level I don't see it feasible to use.
Also my friend was flying the Rokh got it to have around 90k shields with a 50 shield recharge rate per sec. .... craziness
I am looking for fitting suggestion and roles for this ship or is anyone else has an idea for the Abaddon.

To answer shortly: No.
It has the capability to tank rather heavily in dumb situations (read: SiSi FFA) but on Tq...no.

The geddon is a better ganker and the Apoc is a better tanker. As it is now, the abaddon is not worth owning. This is based on testing on SISI. There are extensive posts on this.

It's an Armageddon with an armor resistance bonus, four mids and eight turret slots. Use it as such. People like to look at ships for what they are not, and not what they are.

1600mm RT x 2 EANM II x 2 Heat Sink II x 2-3 DC x 0-1
Insane damage (one more turret than a gankageddon), insane hitpoints (25k), insane resistances (70% is the lowest), and you'll run out of cap booster charges before your guns cap you out. Get someone to pack a remote rep or logistics drones to patch you up afterwards.
It's not a solo setup, but my god a group of these will utter pwn from 45km, as opposed to the blasterthron that needs to get within 10km and the Autopest which will misses half of it's shots.

the difference is abaddon has the grid to fit a half decent megapulse setup AND use damage rigs (which increase pg use of turrets) is it worth it? hell no
give it 5% damage instead of rof, give it a decent drone bay (100m^3 at least) bit more base cap

Currently my Tachyon geddon can easily break 1000 dps at 46km optimal. Now add in the extra turret and the fact that its way easier to fit then you have a powerfull long range ship. This ship was not made for reppers but plates so dont cry when your armor tank dries your cap.

Do you realize that having 66% extra drone DPS on the Geddon counteracts the extra 14.2% DPS through guns.
The Abaddon has it's place, but it sure isn't a shining light for the amarr =/

I finally got on the test server after waiting in line for like the sixth time, this time i waited and waited and didnt give up, all i can say is i wont be flying an abaddon over a geddon or apoc in its current state.
Im maxed in amarr i have relevent skills at 5 (BS 5, beam spec 5, pulse spec 5 cap skilsl 5 ect..) and even have implants and most the setups i tried without cap injectors my cap would last like one fight, this ship is definatly going to end up being a gatecamp ship, when u only need to gank one or two ships, but then again why use the abaddon when geddon does just as good job and will be cheaper.
also this ship wont be used for sniping, i couldnt take out a rokh before i capped out with 8 tachs with aurora. (i wasent even taking damage)
my first impressions of this ship the way it is now is complete garbage, yeah you could probably stick some autocannons on it, but why bother when yo ucould fit up an apoc to tank as well and do more damage?
and yeah it can gank good (ok maby only for a minute) but the geddon can gank as well and have more staying power.
basicly the abaddon looks like its trying to be an apoc and a geddon at the same time ,but not doing a very good job of it
once again the amarr get the short straw when it comes to good selection of new ships.
Another less than average amarr ship, dont we have enought of them already? i mean we already have the most mediocre battleships compared to the other races and now we get one thats even worse than what we got, talk about adding insult to injury.

Well its a GANK setup. The idea is to kill what you are killing before you run out of cap.

I was really looking forward to the Abaddon, because it looks huge, tough and awesome, looking the way a battleship should look. But I will wait until it's fixed. At close range, the Armageddon does the same for less ISK. At long range, the Apoc does the same for longer, for less ISK. Except as a mission-running super-tank which newish players will just keep losing until they switch to Ravens, it's pointless, unless the Devs have come up with a niche role for it of which we are unaware.

some of you people need to actually try this ship, it is an awsome gank ship my tempest was killed by an abaddon before i even took 5% off its armor and my tempest is very good. the abaddon is awsome i estemate it was taking 2-3k off me per volley every 3 or 4 sec. and it had great resistances and amour on the abaddon i couldnt dint it. Stop writing down your nightmares, we are discussing about facts here. If you fit your Tempest with civilian railguns and small armor reppers, go for it but dont tell us bs here, and i dont mean battleships.
Yes the Mealstrom is also crap but dont diss amarr, we are quite pi**** right now mkay?

i was running 8 megapulse II + heavy electrochem and no reps at all
its not even that much better fitting wise when you're trying to put in tachs you can get 8 tachs in with only 1 rcu but if you want to put a plate or heavy injector or anything that uses grid in that extra slot you need another rcu, so why bother? its already not entirely uncommon for a tachgeddon to run out of cap in a fight its going to be massively worse for an abaddon
the abaddon works great when the enemy has no nos, it just about manages when you have 1 nos on you 2 or more and you might aswell self destruct ironically the only non-nos ship i came up against on sisi that was kicking my ass was a blaster-rokh with an injected tank he ran out of cap boosters about the same time as me but he still had armour and structure to go through and i only had structure

Wait, Amarr are actually using drones in graphs now? TIMES HAVE CHANGED!
I didn't realise the +2 drones would completely negate the bonus. Of course, the 4 mids along with more pure-turret damage (as we all know how reliable drones are) is certainly attractive, but looking at that graph... meh.

no offense, but that setup is pretty bad. Nos are a close range weapon, while 1400mm are almost useless at those ranges (espescially without tracking mods). No damage bonus->horrible damage with only 6 artilleries. no cap injector/cap-related mods->the tank won't last long. 4 heardeners->3 EANM II would give better results, for less cap, less CPU, and you'd free one slot.
With that setup, you won't hit all that far, you'll do fairly pathetic damage on your optimal, and virtually no damage at all within 20km, except for your drones. One single Tier 2 BC or HAS, even some cruisers/AF, would eat you alive.

****ed about what? everything on my tempest is t2 apart from the MWD and im not talkign about the mealstrom, the abaddon does awsome damage and this isnt a "nightmare" its a fact that it does great damage so stop whining and saying stupid things like i fit my ship with civilian modules thats why the abaddon beat me. actually try the ship and dont come on here crying that you cant figure out a setup for it.
P.S. i like the fact the amarr have got a realy nice bs now, it just annoys me when some people dont take the time to look at it properly and see what an awsome ship it currently is. It actually seems like the dev team has decided that the Amarr has to be punished.
And no matter how we explain, show them graphs or just whine, they won't change.
My hypothesis: They took so much hits for the nerf of missiles that everything they will do the next three years will be for the benefit of Caldari. And this goes for the Minmatar too.
I think I am cursed. When I joined Everquest as a wizard, the wizards were nerfed close to extinction. And here I joined Amarr - and see the result. What other game/class do you want me to destroy?
I am close to asking for compensation for all the skill points I have spent in laser and Amarr ship skills, so I can put them on something else. But I guess that will not happen... |
