Howdy,
I am currently able to pilot Assault frigates, interceptors, Interdictors, cruisers, battle cruisers, battleships. Covert ops exploration and bombers.
I Have been away from the game for a while, And wondering what to go into. What Amaar ships or pirate, or any for that matter are good for L2-L3 missions then L4? Do they need to be super fancy?
Also I was wondering whether i should bother learning tactical destroyer for the Confessor I like the concept of this ship but what would it be good for?, or Go down the Heavy assault cruiser root? I like the look of the Sacrilege and have missile skills., then eventually a marauder. Are these good ships?
Then maybe down the Strategic cruiser root as i love exploring.. But apparently the Legion isn't great?. |

If you're going to go into L4s and you primarily fly Amarr ships, I would suggest the Navy Apocalypse. It's reasonably priced, and goes through L4s pretty well even with only middling skills.

As Kaarous said, with the addition of Sacrilege for scan-site work, lowsec visiting and general site clearance duties. |

So aim for a Sacrilege after navy apocalypse? What would be good for L2's- L3's would the Sacrilege do this also?
How about the Confessor? What would they be good for? |

In my opinion, ship progression is not static. It does however conform to some strange rules, being in that ships become much more powerful as you level support skills.
Take for example a destroyer. Early, they aren't too great, but once you've trained up AWU and CPU management skills they become little nightmares.
For missions you should always fly the ship that can do the most in the least amount of time if you want to maximize your income. That generally means using what skills you have trained to the best of their abilities.
Need stuff moved? Push Industries will handle it.
Serving highsec, lowsec and nullsec - and we do it faster and more reliably than anyone else.

Sac will totally walk L2s and 3s in its sleep.
Fit 1600mm plate Rolled Plate, Med Armour Rep II, Dam Control, and 2 resistances for flavour in low slot if you arent in a rush to do DPS and nothing in L3 will touch you. Your Cap is golden because of Missiles.
No idea on the Confessor, never used one. |

Fire a MTU in the cargo bay , bring 5 light drones and 5 salvage drones, and fit either a salvager up top or a probe launcher, depending on your mission role.

for L2/L3's I'm a fan of a Gila, for L4's a Rattlesnake, I don't bling them, just T2 fit and you won't be worth ganking most of the time. |

Gila is a great choice for combat sites too.
You dont have the staying power of Sac, but you have speed and DPS aplenty. You should clear a site before you take signifigant damage. |

Wow the Gila looks really nice and i like drones. How do the other pirate cruisers compare? Any ones part Amarr any good? |

The Blood Raider ships are pretty much PvP only due to their reliance on Neutralisers and Web/scrams.
They can have fair damage output but they dont usually have the staying power due to the energy requirments of their systems.
EDIT: If you like drones, you could also try the Prophecy and Armageddon. They were changed to be more drone reliant, though they arent as armour and Energy efficent as the Sac, and not as DPSy as the Gila/Rattlesnake
Also Legion can be tempting, but all you get over a Sacrilege for 100m more is the modular hull.
Also also, use Heavy Assaults rather than Heavy missiles on a Sac. |

L3 the Proph is pretty mean. Can run a rep full time with solid DPS from Drones, and Missiles. L4 I like the Abaddon, it isn't as rangey as say the Apoc, but it does have a higher DPS cieling with a better tank (can also perma run local reps).
Geddon is a decent option for L4s as well, the only thing I don't like about it in L4s is that sometimes they can cause other groups to trigger, and Heavies are really slow and will get chewed by Cruisers, Sentries can don't return to the ship and need to be abandoned in each room, and Mediums don't kill the BS very fast at all. It also has no weapon damage mod, which means drones are pretty much all of your DPS.
With Abaddon for example you can just slow boat at a gate, and blap everything on your way there. |

Agreed
If you like actually feeling like you are in a fight, Abaddon
If you like feeling like you are on the bridge bombarding the enemy as they scream and run, Apoc.
If you want to be a bit wierd and love drones, Armag |

Try Navy Geddon, descent dps from turrets, reasonable drone bay. With proper fit (8 lows) handle income damage pretty easy. |

As people stated already, a Navy Apoc or Geddon are fine choices. Apoc has lower dps but better damage application (optimal + tracking bonus) while the geddon has good turret dps and a huge drone bay (200m3 with 125 of bandwidth, aka 5 sentries)
I did enjoy also the nightmare before and after the changes, now it's probably one of the best laser based ship for blizting L4.
The final missioning boat you might want to aim for it's the paladin, thanks to bastion module you really don't need to bling fit it tank wise, maybe just put 3 faction heat sink. |
