Heard something about MWD not working in Deadspace...
Is this true?, and if so why?... is it a bug or intended?
Regards,
Ghyros.

Edited by: DubanFP on 06/11/2006 17:34:16 true and it's intended. I beleive instead of using the accelleration gates some people just grabbed frigates and used MWD to get from one sector to another withotu fighting the rats. So they banned MWD from deadspace, but like i said i'm not 100% sure. __________________________ Why babelfish is bad mmm k "which the night do not expect that it calls the primary education before becoming deformed inside" |

if that was the case, then why ban MWD.... just make it a closed gate till you kill all the rats.....

They need to make it so the rats don't have MWD's either IMO. Scourge of the asteroids. |

I seriously have no idea why MWDs are not aloud, maybe because an inty could orbit everything without getting hit?

Even an assault frigate can orbit everything without getting hit, and without using an afterburner or MWD. The only danger are webbers. Other than that, NPC ships can't touch you.

MWD's are not allowed because: 1. CCP wanted to make sure people couldn't go from one level to another without going through the gates. The only way to enforce this without instancing was to make sure that people couldn't fly in manually. Complex levels are spaced just far enough apart so that a frigate with an afterburner wouldn't be able to fly from level to level in a reasonable amount to time.
2. CCP wanted to protect the bears from pirates. Complexes would obviously be a great place to camp, and the only way to protect people was by introducing keys for the gates that wouldn't respawn for a while so that a party would have time to get through the complex before anybody else could follow them in. If MWD's were allowed then a pack of high speed frig pilots could bookmark a location on the edge of deadspace and then mwd the rest of the way in.
3. They were probably afraid of people easily killing the spawns with little to no risk in some rigged mwd'ing setup that they hadn't thought of yet.
The solution would probably be to just make deadspace complexes bigger so that it would take 20+ hours to fly from the edge of deadspace to any given level, or from one gate to another even if you were moving 20+ km/s. But even then they are probably too afraid that the complexes will be too easy with mwd's since their AI is so weak. But hey, it couldn't be much worse than the farming that went on in the southeast...

Some missions are really mean to Raven pilots. Gates 80 - 100 KMs away.
I wish I could use a MWD in them. ------------------------------------- Proud member of G Guild! |

If you check eve-search, you will see a comment about how this was put in to lengthen the time that missions take. It is the first of the 'tactical environments' as well according to some Dev posts.
