Really interesting topic -- in a lot of ways I think there are some parallels here between killboards and other metagame intel sources.
Of course, you'd be a fool not to use them while they're at your disposal!
Ultimately there's no way to seriously change killboards. I'd imagine if CREST verification were removed, the most organized PVP groups would be able to maintain some manner of database to track information. So in essence they'd have their own killboards, and the EVE subreddit would be out easily linked content.
Chin up, OP! As a fellow kb user I get where you're coming from, but without a way to stop people from screenshotting, recording, or otherwise whoring out their EVE experiences to the masses, we can't do much about it.

Killboards are really not all that great for 'Intel' because if that's your main form of intel gathering prepare to be surprised, disappointed or both against the competent groups.

How would we all measure our e-peens if there were no killboards?

We'd need to become terribly active filmmakers filling up Turbo's wh-pvp-video thread. Best Camera award replaces the *ISK killed in K-space*-column. |

I think you're missing the point. KBs are used to advise yourself on what possible fits, and company (if any) the other players could be flying with. It's not meant to be the end-all and be-all of intel gathering, but it is one more source that will possibly put you an edge above the other player if you see what fits and people he flies with.
Are they a 100% prediction of what the other person is flying? no, but you can't deny that it gives you an edge.
as for the topic, it's a difficult topic to have an opinion on. I can see good points from both sides. |
