Hey, first post here :)
I have more than 8 mill sp and I was thinking about training for a ship so I can go solo at least decently. I know that caldari ships are not the best solo pvp ships out there but I donŠt care :)
At the moment I have thought about any AF, Rook, Drake (Nighthawk much later), Cerberus... I donŠt want fitting lists, just a general idea of what I can expect from each ship going solo. At the moment I like the Rook most.
Flame on!

You can expect taking away three slots of your tank by needing to fit a scrambler, webifier and AB/MWD for the advantage of using uberwtfpwnz0r Missiles. Or you fit a cheap armor tank and some EW devices.
Which the Rook is good to use for, but it's damage output is still crappy. Either way you are most effektive in gangs, with tackler support.
I have soloed in a armor tanked Moa with blasters and Rocket Launchers sometimes, it's a fun setup, but not very effective compared to a thorax or vexor.

Missile skills are not a problem, I have all support skills at 4 and a few at lvl 5. Once the ECM nerf hits TQ.. Rook will loose a lot of power or it wonŠt affect too much really? Have you think about that?
What about the Drake when Kali arrives? ItŠs cheap , very good for the price of a BC, 6 medium slots available, +20% agility from Kali changes and you can train for CS later.
Meh IŠm really bored at work

The Drake fittings on Sisi don't have to take into account locking down the target... once you stick a web and scram into the mix the tanking potential drops considerably. As you're talking about solo PvP you're probably going to need both as almost anything will be able to outdistance you without a webber. For some reason Caldari ship designers don't consider speed to be an advantage in combat :-/ Never the less, I expect it to be a popular ship choice for Caldari missile freaks.
BTW neither Caldari AF is particularly suited to solo PvP. Harpy is good in a sniper role but lacks a knockout punch. Hawk is a decent mid-range tanker but has relatively low dps with missiles and is too slow for a rocket-ship.
Cerberus is generally too expensive to risk in PvP unless you happen to be a T2 lottery winner. Eagle is a good sniper and is also kinda fun with blasters (aka Beagle) but probably not a match for a similarly equipped Brutix.

which is very important as you ll mainly die a lot trying to solo with it. Arguably my opinions represent to an extent the opinions of my alliance and in particular circumstances give rise to a valid "casus belli" claim. |
