There are two kinds of power in the universe. The first one can be conjured up with a wink and a smile, and forced into existence by wealth, or through intimidation.
It is the kind of power that Matari and all the other unenlightened heathens strive for since it is easy to make someone bow to you out of fear or necessity.
But we who call ourselves the Amarr strive for a different kind of greatness. A power that doesn't frighten or blackmail but instead inspires, and leaves everyone in awe of our general awesomeness.

That's working wonderfully for you so far, isn't it?
In the past two decades, your Empire has been beaten by the Jove, the Minmatar and the Federation (at a minimum) more times than one, your Reclaiming has ground to a halt and is limited by the scope of a man-made international entity and treaty rather than upheld by the divine will of God, your military conquest of the Minmatar warzone is being championed primarily by a mercenary corp aligned with the Kaalakiota corporation of the State and assisting the 24th Imperial Crusade by contract commission and your own Empire is fraught with social, political and religious reform as these combined failures have forced the more enlightened among your population to consider in more depth the gravity of the state of affairs surrounding them.
Perhaps when your mental age and maturity matches your outward appearance you'll understand why it would serve your Empire and your God more to look inward and consider what it truly means to be a servant of God and a citizen of the Empire than to come to these discussions with empty boasts and an inflated sense of self-worth.

As a member of a certain Kaalakiota aligned corporation, enlisted in the Crusade, I have to add feel Anuri is free to come to low sec and tell me what he thinks of the Matari people while in space, lets see if his God protects his ship if he gets on grid with me. I certainly know I won't "helplessly tumble to the floor" at your presence, not if you are capable of losing an Astero to a Manticore, as public records would suggest.
I have to agree broadly with Liam's sentiment here, and I think most of us here understand the Empire and it's Faith, and it is foolish to assert that we don't. |

These are simply trials and tribulations put forth by God to test our faith. I think he can already see who has failed him.

Firstly, how dare you bring up a most traumatic event in such a casual manner. When I first acquired my piloting license, I set off for an expedition into wormhole space.
The whole expedition was nothing more peaceful exploration in an unarmed vessel. And then some murderer took it upon himself to destroy my vessel and kill my innocent crew.
I am not surprised the likes of you to consider that sort of behavior acceptable.
Those few seconds I spent warping away in my capsule, were the hardest moments in my life. The knowledge that my lack of experience had brought about the death of three men is something that torments me to this day.
It is also why I took it upon myself to become more adept at scanning and covert exploration. I could come to your system and warp circles around you all day and you wouldn't even know I was there.
Also, to show my unrelenting faith, I have disabled both my replacement clone and my capsule's warp drive.
Whatever fate my new crew suffers, I shall be there with them, and perish with them. Can you say the same "noble" Matari? |

While your empathy toward your crew is commendable and admirable, your self-righteous condescension of everyone around you is deplorable.
Perhaps if you could learn to apply the same empathy toward those around you other than simply your crew, you would have more success promulgating your faith to others.
Carrying on as you do just sours people to both you and your message and is rather counter intuitive.

I'm sure you wouldn't want auxiliary forces fighting for your noble Empress to do so with their hands tied behind their backs. We'll get on with the job of protecting the Empire's borders and leave the grand gestures to those who have the luxury of making them.

I'm sorry but were you under some delusion that you're protecting a border somewhere?
I mean, surely you militia types realize what your actual purpose is?
Or do you actually believe that when you're engaged in combat in some inconsequential system in the middle of nowhere fighting capsuleers of the opposing faction, that you're actually having an impact on the actual division of resources of the four powers?
I hate to break it to you but the dual purpose of capsuleer militias remains what it has always been:
1. To provide profit to various corporations via taxation of all the arms trades necessary to sustain these militias
2. To decrease overpopulation of the planets in New Eden through the continued slaughter of expendable crewmen that occupy both yours and your enemy's ships
This is the ugly truth.
And to prove it as such you only need to cease with your "job of protecting the Empire's borders" and then wait and see if these borders change in any drastic way.
You are all just pawns of the most oblivious kind. |

I would like to remind the honourable lady from the Hoplite Brigade that we are also growing stronger in opposition to her and her comrades.
I suppose the difference is that, at the end of the war, we go back home. Perhaps that is the one downside of hiring mercenaries - all the knowledge, experience and treasure we gain in service goes back to the State and not the Empire.

Not every Matari who fights, but not under the militia flag fights against their home. It isn't that black and white. There are always some reasons for it, not necessarially always good ones but reasons none the less. Also I really wouldn't be honest with myself if I claimed to be a true matari, That's why I don't fly with the militia and why I strive to better myself so I can make such claims. |

Nameira, I understand why you might feel like this. I respect your ability, and the ability of all who serve the Republic, and do so out of a feeling of service to the Matari people. I don't know however, if I am doing my people as a whole any worse here in the Yolocolo, than the Huola Coalition that I used to be in when I flew alongside Iron Oxide, The Periphery and other forces that were at the time enrolled in the TLF.
The issue is, that culturally I want to identify with my people, that is the Brutor Tribe. Politically, the Brutor Tribe has indeed sided with the Republic, rather than taking the more reasonable path of the Thukker Tribe, and swearing off CONCORD. There are Brutor in the Federation, and in the Cartel in large numbers, and many of them still maintain their tribal traditions and ceremonies. I don't have to be waving the flag of the Republic in order to practice any particular culture.
If a concerted effort is made, and the Republic can be made into a place that is worthy of defending and sacrificing for, then I might change my mind; but in the state it is iin now, the Valklears would have to kill a significant portion of the Matari people, since they don't live in the Republic, and aren't helping it. If people in the service of the Republic really want to do something worthwhile, focus on the infrastructure, industry and defence of the Republic not "opportunities for vengeance". |
