I've recently been playing with the Arazu. Fun ship all in all, but there is one thing I am finding really irritating:
It uses a huge amount of capacitor when warping. A long warp distance of 70au will consume roughly 850 cap about 3/4 of the full amount. I'm sure my apoc doesnt even use this much.
Is this intended? If so does it apply to other Recon ships?
Thanks. Sig removed. Please keep sigs to 400x120 pixels and 24000 bytes in size or less. -Kaemonn |

yup this affects all recons, i god **** hate it
esp when fighting with gang in area where i dont have bms and gang warps us, i cant warp all the way and i need the gang to wait for me or a frig set up a sling.
many a times ive thought if a cap battery would be worth it to fit

Well if this is an intended effect it would be nice if they gave us some hint in the ship's description.
afaik there are no statistics to tell you how much cap a ship uses when it jumps, but usually its fairly intuitive based on the size of the ship, and is compensated for by the size of the shp's cap.
So yeah, at least i know what to expect now, but would be nice to have some idea before you buy the ship don't you think?

What does determine cap use per A of space traveled? Is it mass, or some what? My least favorite thing about small ships is when they bomb out on warps.. I can see it for shuttles, but its annoying in a nice frig to be limited to 40 au warps.

I dont know exactly, all I know is that with warp core operation lev 4, I don't generally have problems warping anywhere in any other ship, if I have a full cap to start with. Sig removed. Please keep sigs to 400x120 pixels and 24000 bytes in size or less. -Kaemonn |

warp distance is the main guide for how much capacitor it takes... afaik it also matters if you're aligned or not...

Doesn't matter about alignment, all that matters is the distance. All ships have a hidden value that determines how much cap it needs per au. Multiply this by the range and then take Warp Drive Operation into account and you're sorted.

This is intended. Petitioned it at some point asking wtf was up with this stealth recon warping 1AU and stopping dead in-space.
Cap use is determined by a formula of Mass, Capacitor and Warp Distance iirc and it was intentional that Recons use so much cap because of their high Mass.
This is my lazy attempt to make an uber-signature, please go away!

Edited by: Alex Harumichi on 10/11/2006 15:36:28 Once Kali hits, fit an inertial stab, they lower your mass and therefore drop warp cap needs (and make you much more agile and faster to align, to boot).
...and in any case, train Warp Drive Op V. It helps with these ships, and it's only rank 1.

All the recons have very bad warp cap, which IMO is a good thing, its a nerf to balance their many strong points, to differentiate them from HACs and logistics, and to make them consider dropping one of their precious, multi-bonused midslots for a cap battery, so you have a nice fitting tradeoff. I still love flying recons, no reason why they should be changed.

yes, all recons are like this
I have personal experience with both rook and curse....both are the same. The curse has a very crappy capacitor....helps balance out the nos bonus quite nicely.
