Why don't we just make it reduce the ships damage mod? Possibly another attribute as well that would reduce its effectiveness significantly but not totally take someone out of the fight (IE enable it to be like all of the other EW).

ya read it 3 times and still not sure what you mean
k apon 4th read i think you mean ecm would reduce the ship dmg output by reducing its the dmg mod it gets on weapons... could work

it should just break the lock, causing the ship to have to relock all its targets

Yeah Im thinking we just move ECM to be like the other types of stat reducing mods.
It just reduces your guns damage mod, drone damage mod, and missile base damage by some reasonable amount.

Out of all the ideas u`ve had Gierling, this doesn`t sound too bad tbh. (Yes i know, frightening idea if Gierling got a good idea..)
But it got to be a reasonable amount to stop shieldtankers putting say 2 WCS and 3 dmg mods to balance it out.
For armortankers it`s not an issue as u got tanking mods and dmg mods on same slots, but shieldtankers, especially passivetankers like vagabond, sleipnir, nighthawk, cerberus and other it needs to be a fine balance.
This is my lazy attempt to make an uber-signature, please go away!

i think damage is a little overdoing it
tracking disruptors - lower chance of hitting in some cases TPs - bigger sig radius, take more damage from missiles, faster locked sensor dampeners - less lock speed, distance
i think ecm would fall under well in the less ROF category or less total targets category, so you can lock down a ship, but it takes a lot of ecm to do it.

I think they should just make all electronic warfare be ship specific. Have the EWar ships for each race be the only ships able to fit EWar modules, such as ECM, sensor damps, tracking disruptors...
Then, if a gang/fleet needed EWar support, they would need pilots who actually are specced in that area of EWar.

the only problem is that some ewar is more powerful than others, for that to work, you would need each ewar to be viable.

Make it reduce both rof and damage? And its counter would be the damage mod?
I love it!
ECM now is overpowered. ECM in Kali just makes Caldari the only one who can use overpowered ECM. This would be much much much better.

ECM should just work on enemy EW.
Specialized ECM for taking out NOS, some for taking out tracking disruptors, some for sensor damps, target painters, other ECM you name it. - It's great being Minmatar, ain't it? |

minmitar should also lose the target painter bonus and get some new device that causes missiles to miss. kinda like traking disruptor for missiles

I like the idea of ECM causing RoF and Damage fall off that could be off-set with damage mods.

I think everything in Kali will be fine... ECM only breaking locks will not work as you can do that 100% on most ships with 2-3 dampeners.
