CCP plz redesign watch/friend list to contact list and remove that "free for all magic" online indicator. Leave online indicator/notification only for those who have mutual positive standing. Online indicator in watch list should only work if mutual. |

I will allow this if and only if the new sov null stations are totally destructable and there is no magic asset preservation mechanism in said stations destruction.

CCP plz stop letting ships disappear from space. It's unfair that people can use 'free for all magic' to disappear.
Only make ships disappear if hunter and hunted agree. |

Watchlist functionality in K-space is all but magic. Your ID connects to the subspace beacon communication relay network of gate network when you log in and disconnects when you log off. Easy. Having said that, it could be argued that watchlist functionality should not work in W-space as the very same subspace beacons aren't reachable there, as we get reminded every time upon entering W-space. Currently, only the functionality of watchlists in W-space could be considered magic.

But not even that magic since, you know...ships have crew, POS have staff, planets and customs offices have inhabitants etc etc etc etc.
However none of that changes that all the WL does is work around the fact that ships and players magically cease to be on log out.
Additionally, any intel value of said list is trashed simply by remaining logged in.
Of all the things "broken" in game, this is so far towards the bottom of the list it is dusty and can't see daylight. |

Watch lists are wonky at best, but they play such a huge role for super hunters you should probably ask them for feedback on this.
For opinions on this from w-space people, there is a thread in the wormholes subsection. It looks like the (vast) majority would like to keep them as they are. |

There is a clear distinction between leaving ships at risk in space while you are unable to play and seeing the instant someone logs in.
Personally, I'd get rid of local chat and watch listing long before I worried about ships disappearing from space after a safe log off. To each their own...

I love 'get rid of the watch list' numpties. They out entertain even the 'afk cloaking' ninnies.
Please sticky this and staple it to the afk cloak thread, or better yet combine the two obvious evils into one mega thread that will some day save all of new eden.
Sticky this now!!! |

In general emergent game play has taken the watch list that was originally designed so that the 400 guys that had subscriptions to eve back in the beginning could better work to gether has over time morphed into an enemies list and now to a pvp tool that is used for many facets of hunting game play.
Personally I have great amounts of raw hate for any cowardly space pilots that want to remove a pvp tool from the game. That's raw undistilled seething angry meanyweanie space hate. This is a pvp game. It was designed as a pvp game. It should be played as a pvp game.
Farmers flying supers should log in to fear angst and apprehension. That is the point of the game. Those ships were never intended for solo farming ops. Just because emergent game play lends to them being used in that task does not mean the game should be changed to allow them to do it safely. This is the ultimate whine of self entitlement in eve.

Someone is coming for you. They will find you. They will watch list you and they will blow up your little pixel space ship. Of this I am sure. Fly in fear super pilots..... fly in fear. They are going to get you. |

Good luck.
(Also, I would never trap myself in a space coffin. I like actually playing the game, not waiting for pings to log in for 10 minutes, blap something, and then log out for a week).

I just want notifications for people online and offline in the watch list to be able to be separated by standing, so I can see all the lists at once.
At 5 drones of T2, the Tristan is nearly as powerful as the Algos, with a cheaper price tag, better maneuverability and speed, and smaller sig radius to avoid the lazy carebearish T3 station blapping -10s who have no life. Pick tristan for FW.

This has been posted at least 3 times in the past couple months, and every time get's about the same responses.
One camp calling OP a ***** for wanting to take away the ability for any pilot in EVE to see when any other pilot in EVE is online or not...
and one camp saying how ridiculous it is that any pilot can just add any and all names to a list and be able to see exactly what members of a corp/alliance are online at any given time.
I'm in the second camp, I think the watchlist is dumb.
I'm not a super pilot, and I still think it's dumb. I don't want enemies to be able to keep tabs on me without actually doing work. If someone wants to know if I'm online or not.. they should have to track me. They should have to run a locator on me, then go to that system, find me, and watch where I go.
Watchlist AND Local chat are stupid game mechanics for knowing who's in the game (and in your system). Remove both and come up with a new method for seeing/finding each other.

Replace it with locator agents telling you if someone is online when you run a locate. And you still have a way to tell if it's worth flying over there to hunt them right now. You can locate someone who is offline so you can also park a cloaked alt in that system to watch for them. |
