I'd like there to be either
a) direct way such as a "repulsor beam" that can be fitted to industrial high slot and allows to move for example 1000m3 a minute to freighter from industrial in space if they are close.
or
b) A loading platform that freighters can deploy temporarily and through which industrials can "upload" ore to the freighter. To make things interesting, the freighter would not be able to move while the platform is deployed. The industrials access the platform and the ore moves to the freighter directly. The platform doesn't hold the ore. Think of real life Oil platforms, they use similar mechanisms if you look into it a bit. Or more to the point, a certain ship class that serves just this purpose near oil fields. Unfortunately I forget the name of this but you can look it on wikipedia.
Why?
I'd like to see making mining operations into remote 0.0 areas more feasible logistically. The potential of more freighter kills is also nice perspective. |

The idea is nice but poses certain problems: high-sec mining will become far too easy. There will be no risk from rats (my covetor can handle 0.4 rats with ease), no risk from player pirates and make stripping belts too easy logistic wise. The next problem is killing the freighters. In high-sec where macro-miners reign, it'll be impossible to get rid of them by suicide bombing. The third problem is freighters don't drop loot when destroyed. In 0.0 I can see people hunting for these ops with a freighter of their own ready to loot a dead freighter, but currently when freighters pop they leave nothing behind.
I would rather suggest a ore platform that reprocesses ore (discussed in another thread) that can only use jump-drives and is therefore stuck in 0.4 and below (because cyno fields can only be created in 0.4 and below). I'm not going to discuss much about such a ore platform, it has been posted about thousands of times and there are tons of threads with good ideas... might as well continue with those. ----------------------------------------------- http://www.uozone.net/files/cic/val4_eve.jpg Signature filesize exceeds max limit of 24000 bytes. I quite like that idea... but i also agree with the high sec issues. So why not have it as something that can only be deployed in low sec space? It would also be nice to access a freighters cargo in a POS. Since you can build ships, including freighters, at POS and in fact change modules around why the hell cant you access a freighters cargo?
It would be very nice to have a deployable platform that is built into the freighter itself and allows for access to the ship. In order to justify banning it in 0.5 and above you can add a risk of explosion, that takes out anything in the belt. Thus CONCORD wont allow it. That way we can see some people actually loosing freighters by risking them in lower sec for mining or pos fueling and getting caught with their pants down. Also gives something new for pirates to do instead of sitting at gates.

There is the platform disscussed in all those threads out now, it's the refining array. I doubt they will let a freighter load in space, but who knows maybe some day they will make a larger hauler. One with perhaps 200k cargo space? who knows what will be done. The things we do in life echo in eternity. "Maximus Decimus Murideus" |

the refinery array gets a 75% refine so unless your in deep 0.0 with no outpost or player station... which ccp has spread all over the place... its pointless.

industrials should be able to dock with freighters and unload. of course thanks to macro fear mongering it will never happen.

Just make it so freighters can transfer items at a POS and I'd be happy.
