SPOKE TOO SOON! After the standard server reboot window tonight, Im back to square 1... Might need another MachoNet file... =(
Im runnign the ping plotter for CCP per their request in the petition - packet loss through Level 3 and CCP infrustructure is way too high....

Thanks for keeping this up, Jinx. At least you're MachoNet folder replacements are keeping EVE vaguely playable. Let's hope CCP can get around to resolving this soon and answering our petitions!

Yeah i've been doing it for like a week now.
I'm kinda surprised that there's been no official eve response into this thread, like from an forum mod or whatever. I'm not complaining, i'm doing this just out of the kindness of my heart. Although out of the .. 200 people so far who i've tracked downloading my file, only like a handful have even said THANKS /me frowns.
I just hope eve has actually realised that all the pertitions from people are actually one 'specific' problem and not individual or random.
Oh well, just my luck to get stuck into doing a thankless job like this. /me inserts other emo stuff.
Further; those of you who actually get your problem fixed (and i mean properly), make sure you leave a note in here so we can be updated on how/why/when etc. etc.
Cheers, and as always, you know what thread to look for for downloads. -CJ

Colonel Jinx,
I've been downloading your file for the last week or so. I had hoped this would be quickly solved, but that's no excuse for my failure.
I thank you. There'd be no EVE for me without you. I hope you get put on CCP's payroll soon.

Yep, I've had the exact same thoughts, Jinx...
Not to sound bitter, but does anyone else get the feeling like we're dealing with an absentee landlord lately? I can understand that the higher-ups at CCP are busy with the merger, the rest of the staff are distracted getting Kali together, and the Fanfest just ended, but these are no excuse for letting a leaat 1% of their active users experience these kinds of technical problems. Patch crashes, cache update issues, and random disconnects all point to a common problem, imho. Not to suggest that I can begin to imagine the amount of hard work these guys put into designing and maintaining this game. It's not easy creating a complex, contiguous MMORPG like EVE, and the hardware issues are probably a constant uphill struggle. Still, what's the point if your players can't play??

Ouch the Machonet problem again, I feel for you guys. Here's the first 23 old topic on the problem. Here's the 2nd old topic. Downloading a working matchonet folder is a temporary fix (you have to do this ecah day)and thanks to the guy uploading them. Kind of funny this is back and at the same time people are suffering from disconnects again. Last time this was a major issue both problems were occuring at the same time too.

To start of right ...thank you Jinx...I'm now able to login to flip skills.
My petition has got a reply and I replied with the dxdiag info and two pingplotter images. After that, dead silence, this is the same behaviour CPP had last time, they don't even reply with "Hi, we know about this and are working to solve it"...it's just dead silence, that is starting to **** me off.
CCP you must change your customer support routines, theese forums is where everyone looks first, if you just reply with a short notice alot of frustration would go away, that's my two isk.
To make a follow up on this one, is it the same people that is affected this time as last or is it alot of new ones aswell? if we're all the same we must have something in common.

Firstly, I think... that if ccp doesn't realise that this is a larger picture, I think it's probably only because they 'may' be seeing it as lots of little individual problems. Hopefully by this stage I think people should give credit to ccp to believe that i'm sure they've realised that it's a larger problem (well you'd hope so after a thread this long)
The other thing I thought i'd note, is i've had about.. if i subtract the figure by how many days there have been, my original figure of 200 turns out to be around 50 or so. of people downloading each day. Now is this 50 the same 50 each day? is it part the same group, and part another? If it's max 50, that means there could also be others out there that simply haven't found this thread. On the whole though, it isn't alot of people, and ccp just probably has their hands full with problems that affect 5000 people instead of 50. So I think we should relax a little and not jump on the RARR KILL CCP bandwagon, I'm not bagging out those of you who are complaining, hell, if i was , i wouldn't be hosting these files for you for FREE. I've just had a programmming/design background so I can understand that sometimes there's just not enough time.
If the latter is correct though, I have a thought that should rectify the situation while they work on a fix; ccp could 'easily' do what i'm doing. Host a machonet folder somewhere on eve-online, while they try and get a solution. It would be VERY simple enough to make the process automated so that it happened instantly without human input. I'm just too naive to realise that it's probably only the forum mods, and nobody from ccp at all who'll be reading this.
Regardless, i have about 120gb of bandwidth accross 3 domains, so i'll be continuing to raise the flag each night. As always, your first point of refference is: My Tardz Thread about MachoNet Download
Cheers, fly safe, and other boring stuff like that. - CJ

Edited by: SgtStorm on 16/11/2006 17:47:50 Update:
Whether it's in response to this problem or not is impossible to tell, but they have been fiddling with something because I'm now able to connect normally if I disable my software firewall... the first few days I couldn't do this. Obviously disabling the firewall isn't a fix but for me atm it's less of a PIA than copying CJ's MachoNet folder on 6 accounts (3 accts, 2 computers). I also don't get the frequent disconnects with the firewall disabled.
This is not due to my firewall settings, like the most of you I never changed them. The problem arose (best guess not being a techie) when CCP did something to change the way packets were handled and it is screwing with some firewalls and routers when they check the packets. Last time it was the Anti MAC spoofing that it conflicted with, after they fixed the problem I went back to my previous FW settings and no problems... until last week. They tweaked something and now the same problem has reared it's ugly head once again.
It may take some time, but this issue causes a lot of connection problems even for people who don't have any problem getting in so they will get it fixed eventually. Last time it took a couple of weeks to get the problem recognized and another couple of weeks for them to fix it. Since the main focus atm is on the HW upgrades and Kali, it's important that we keep petitions open until this issue is resolved. Until then, we'll keep the fresh MachoNet files available (thanks to CJ - please for the love of god go stroke his ego or he'll start doing it himself and it ain't pretty).
Remember:
If this workaround does get you in that you need to do it after each downtime every day.
Temporarily disabling your firewall (and/or any other software that might be checking packets) may help get you in and reduce disconnects. I'd suggest reenabling it when you're not playing Eve.
Keep your petition open, give them any logs/files they ask for and keep the pressure on so the problem stays in their sights.

Don't forget, if your problem gets resolved, let us know. I personally have never had this problem, and i doubt i ever will not having a router, but I'd be curious to actually see what's going on.

Just had this problem for the first time ever, I run 2 accounts at same time , main logged in fine after dt but 2nd one failed with this error. Read this thread, copied the contents of the Machonet folder from the good accounts installation to the bad instellation, cleared the problem first time.

Also having this problem intemittently, currently downloading the folder replacement (thanks), just wanted to throw this in:
This is problem I only get when I try and log in at peak times, which for me is around 6-10pm (gmt). Whether this is because of a problem with the CCP servers or my own ISP i cannot say, but what may be helpful is that I realised after reading this thread that I may be only getting the problem on days when I havent logged in between downtime and peak time. I dont know how practical this may be for some people in other time zones but it might be worth trying to log in at some point, however briefly, between 12-5pm gmt to update your cache if u plan to next log in during those peak times.
Hope this is helpful, still not a permanent fix though.

Hahahahahaha just great, had to remove my machonet. Game was becoming very gibberish so I did it (made a copy having this topic in teh back of my mind).
Tried to log in and I have this problem now... k let's see if bringing back my old machonet fixes that, better gibberish gaming then no gaming at all...
It did not work. Let this be a warning to everyone not to delete their working machonet at current times or you will be hit by the CCP customer nerf bat!

I'd wager a guess, that this close to a new build release, like Kali. That problems like this that need actual dev/coders to rewrite stuff, would be allocated a very small amount of time. Just an unfortunate happening. I'm sure they are aware of this and are working on it, i have faith in ccp, they've done ok by me for the past 3 years. They're probably just a TINY bit too busy. I know it's not much comfort to you guys right? Everybody wants their problem to have priority, but i think that's the 'issue', a few too many problems, new builds coming out, and not enough manpower. Let's be patient again, i'll keep upping the files and keeping discussions going, and we'll see how we go.
Also; yarrr. Here be monsters (pointless comment)

From GM Retrofire - 11/17/2006 5:11:00 PM
Hi.
Our network administrators and our ISP are looking into the problem, it seems there are a few routing points that are causing this with Sprintlink and in Amsterdam and one in London but exact points have yet not been confirmed. I assure you we are doing everything we can in order to have this fixed as soon as possible.
Best regards, GM Retrofire EVE Online Customer Support

Humpf...I haven't heard from the GM's yet myself, but this seems to make some sense. I'm in the USA, though...I don't know if I'm routed through servers in the UK, especially as Iceland is closer. Then again, repeaters and relays on the internet are known to move data in strange ways, no?

EVE Servers are located in London or close to at least, so all players are being routed thru london someway.

I trust everyone ran the pin plotter and sent the output to CCP? Mine shoed >30% packet loss 3 hops from the Trinity server within Level 3 (ISP). That output gives them ammo to smack the ISP over the head and say FIX YA SH|T !

I'm having the same problem as everyone else here. Thanks CJ for a temp fix so I can at least change my skills. I've had my petition open for over a week now and the best responce I've had so far is:
Hi.
Some players have reported that using another players machonet folder files has allowed them to connect, there is a forum post in Known Issues & Workarounds called PROBLEM: process at acquiring bulk data after DT where players are discussing the problem. Some may have a working machonet folder you can use.
