Originally by: Glockster PECK I'm too having problems with the login and acquiring bulk data. I have to download CJ's MachoNet fix everyday to be able to play the game. I'm currently a 14 day trial user and considering to buy the game and time to play, but not with these problems around. Also getting disconnected from the server constantly starts to bug me off.
I have exactly the same problem, having to download CJ's MachoNet fix every day and getting disconnected from the server all the time makes me really consider if I should buy this game or not after my trial ends.

I've been playing for eight months and an reticent to close my account because of this. Then again, EVE is only a game--a service--and if I'm not receiving much for my money, then there is little sense in spending it. However, I rather enjoy EVE and find it one of the few games I've encountered that doesn't bore me within weeks, constantly presents escalating challenges, and has a generally nice, mature user base. So, for a person who just started playing and who is experiencing the connection issues, I can understand why you might not want to pay and keep playing.
I, too, continue to download my MachoNet contents from Jinx, and I am extremely grateful to him for continuing to provide this service. (Were I able to play more, I would be able to send him ISK in appreciation for his troubles.) I realize all the people at CCP are inundated with Kali's release, but I can only hope that someone has a chance to look at this soon after the extended downtime.

Our corp webmaster has been nice enough to offer a link that will have a fresh working MachoNet folder each day. Make sure you give him enough time to log in and get one uploaded after the server comes up each day.

Hope it helps. You may still experience frequent random disconnects until CCP gets this sorted, but it will get you in and allow you to change skills, reset factories, corp mgmt, etc.
You can go here to butter CJ's muffin so he doesn't get tired of doing this every day:

This works fine. Thanks CJ of TARDZ

I am having the same problem, CJ's machonet folder allows me to log in, but I am disconnected about every 5-10 minutes making the game almost unplayable. Not sure if the problems are related, but I've started a petition to try to get it figured out.

Edited by: Ganaar on 26/11/2006 20:12:09 Yeah, this will probably be my first and only month paying for Eve. That's too bad. I like the game. But it's not that fun to be continually relogging into the game or to have to download a Machonet folder once a day.
I've been running pingplots and, although there's some packetloss on my ISPs network, it doesn't correspond with disconnects. I don't think the true problem is on my end.
Whatever, the unsubscription timer is counting down...

I haven't been playing Eve very much lately, but it's still a pain to have this problem when I try to log in and change a skill. Thanks for making your MachoNet files available for us, Colonel Jinx. I've used it several times now without a problem. Hopefully the issue will be fixed in a couple of days when Revelations goes online.

Well, we'll have to find other ways to get the Machonet folder contents... You've been doing us a major favor, Jinx, and we appreciate it. You, of course, have been under no obligation to provide the folder daily, and are a very good person for doing so.
On a different note, I finally heard back from the GMs. However, my reponse was much the same (if not identical) as those for everyone else on this forum:
Quote: Hi.
We have been receiving reports from players that they are suffering massive connection problems in the way that they can either simply not connect to the server or they are suffering quite a lot of lag when connected. What exactly is causing this is yet unfortunately unknown but our network administrators are looking into this with our ISP, we do hope that they are able to find the cause and have it fixed as soon as possible.
We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience this has caused.
Best regards, GM Xamother EVE Online Customer Support
I'm hoping that the support team will have time and make efforts to look thoroughly into this problem during the long downtime for the Kali upgrade. I also hope that it is easily resolved. If anyone else gets more specific info, please post it here.

I got an email from a GM telling me that they'd added a connection to another ISP. It fixed my disconnect problem. I only had one disconnect last night. I hope others had the same experience.
The acquiring bulk data problem still exists. I hope it gets fixed during the upgrade tonight.
Thanks again, Jinx. There'd be no Eve without you.

Edited by: ChickenPox on 30/11/2006 03:39:02 Well, post revelation I'm still having trouble except it's slightly different. Instead of hanging on acquiring bulk data, it just pops up a messagebox after the acquiring bulk data progress bar is full that says lost connection with server(that's not an exact quote, just the gist). The machonet folder still fixes the problem though.

Even with CJ's fantastic community spirit, we shouldnt be depandant on CJ & Tardz to be the only supply of the Machonet file (especially considering his impending 3 week holiday ;). I might be able to host a file but I suffer from the issue so it needs to come from someone elses machine. When compressed its 5mb.
Wouldnt it be nice if CCP hosted the workaround fur us until its fixed. Now thats what I would call vendor good will and a proactive step to retraining customer base.

Hi Well I'd love to say it worked , as the new build did for 24 hours..... but alas I seem to find I cannot now connect again at all!! Nor can i access the web page or even log into my account .... This is like a game of cat and mouse and extremely frustrating.I wonder what the problem could be now ? Anyone got any ideas? , or is anyone else got the same problem and I'm glad to know that most of you would appear to have your problem solved

I thought it was fixed...I could log in normally for 2 days after expansion, but looks like I am back on the broken cache bandwagon again.
I also have the problem where it doesn't stick on the downloading bulk data anymore, it now just disconnects me when I get there. I hope they fix this soon...

same here, first day of revelations I logged in and actaully played for quite awhile before being disconnected. Second day I logged in and got disconnected constantly, with several faulty attempts to log back in...today I can't log in at all, I am receiving the 'Connection to server lost' message at the same point where the bulk data bar used to hang before.
I have been able to log in from work to change skills, but it is getting to the point where after a year of playing I am serioulsy considering cancelling my accounts. At the very least there should be some sort of compensation for those of us experiencing this bug (and a special bonus for Jinx, who honestly, they should at the very elast give one of the new ships to as a reward for his service beyond the call of duty).
This is the second time this bug has come up, making the service I pay for entirely worthless. The last time it was fixed on ccp's end just as I was hunting for a new game to play. The timer is fast approaching for me to look elsewhere again.

I also had no trouble before the expansion and for a day or so after. Now I have every trouble: acquiting bulk data, stops at loading character, CTD at jump gates. *sigh*

Yep, I got it too. I guess we were just being teased. The ****ed client doesn't even make an effort to start now.
I thought games were things to do for fun. This isn't that much fun.

Well, I'm glad to know that this isn't just me. Same problem, new variation: also could log in for the first two days, with some increase in lost connections on the 29th. Now...acquiring bulk data completes, and the connection is "lost." More like dropped. I cannot understand why this seemed to be resolved for the first two days and suddenly reverts. I'm starting to doubt that this is a routing issue. I think someone is goofing up the system during the tweaks made during downtime...
And I too am left to wonder what's different about my computer, ISP, etc., that is not the case for others, like Jinx. Surely there's a common thread among all of us. Perhaps we are all routed to the same, flawed server or server node?? These problems did seem to arrive after their hardware upgrade spurt. Maybe CCP acquired some bad hardware?
And Jinx, again, many thanks for keeping the torch lit for those of us experiencing this bizarre headache. You're a hero.

Thanks so much to Tardz for supplying a working machonet directory. At least I have been able to get in and petition it and set up some long time skill training. None of the suggestions the gm gave me helped at all. So I have decided to cancel my subscription for the time being, and keep an eye on the forums about it.
No sense in paying for a game when I can't play. Going to fire back up when they get it fixed. Best of luck to the rest of you!
