Time for another bump, even tho this topic seems 2 get unoticed by CCP.... Anyway ive still got problems with the same between 6pm and 11pm but now its just saying "Unable to connect to the selected server. Please check the address and try again." nice, ah well will have to wait till 11pm again... been on to my isp (homecall(pipex)) and no port blocking is going on. dunno wat to do...

To those who have said that it can't be ccp's problem:
The first time this came up it started with a patch and ended with a patch. The game connected functioned flawlessly, running multiple accounts, between then and the eventual patch that brough it back down a few months back. I find that timing too strange to be coincidental. Every other game I play works fine, it is just eve that fails (on aquiring bulk data). If I grab a machonet folder from work (where I can play eve fine on the same laptop) I can get past the bulk data and play the game, but I get frequent disconnects.
To everyone with the problem:
I have worked with compatibility from a developer's pov before and I would guess that they have taken the low road and decided that it is not worth fixing. There may be a workaround entailing all of us going out to buy new modems and/or routers and they are probably hoping that is what we will eventually do.
I have cancelled one of four accounts, I will be cancelling another in a month. If CCP can not resolve the problem I will probably cancel the remaining accounts. I can easily afford a new modem, but it is the principle of it. I'll wait a few months, play a few other games to see if I like them more, then when I feel that I have not payed ccp in monthly charges as much as I have lost + the new hardware costs I will consider re-subscribing.
This is an ugly gamble from their end. I have more patience than most and have been playing long enough to be hooked on the game. All of these new users who experience the problem and get no feedback are never going to play enough to care to jump through hoops.
The class act thing to do would be to offer those of use who have been afflicted timecards for our inconvenience, then tell us what they plan to do or not do to resolve the issue.

I have been playing 3 years and not had this issue until last Friday. No new equipment, no new software, no new updates on my software (I do not do auto patchs on windoes, etc).

same here windingo except i do use the auto updates, none down during my 'problems' in either case. funny thing is it kicked in and sorted itself after one of the daily downtimes. wonder if tomorrow will be better.

have the same problem, cant login in both my accounts... acquiring bulk data never ends :(
never happened in 1,5 years, just starting today
actually, first i was able to log in one account (from, say, folder one), and got stuck in second (from folder two). then i decide to login with "working" client from folder one, but select the account two. and it was partially success, i got to character selection screen, and even begin to load station environment... but it was DT time, so it just don't load.
After DT both my accounts don't load :(

Well its after the patch, a 35 meg download, another deletion of machonet and problem still persisting, crashes on acquiring bulk data with a connection lost error, pingplotter still showing pings under 50 with no packet loss. EVE ADMIN if your watching this thread try something else.

That is interesting, I get the 'disconnected from server' message shortly after the bulk data bar fills up. Letting it load all night is not possible for me. Do you get disconnects while you are playing? If I use a machonet folder downloaded at work I can log in at home, but I get disconnected too frequently to play.
It is possible that you had a different bug.

Still not fixed. The link you've posted to the machonet folders is broken now.
Can someone host it so the rest of the world can download?
Cheers

I have the same problem. I petitioned it but all CCP told me is to reinstall. I am pretty sure the patch screwed it up.

Originally by: Zuberi Maybe it is CCP's way of curing our addictions. One account down, one more being cancelled soon. Taking my router out of the equation hasn't helped.
Laptop at work = everything is fine Laptop at home = disconnect at bulk data

Same .. PC @ work .. no problems.. but no PVP PC @ home.... bollox'd
not petitioning --- no real point.....
EDIT lol -- while whining on the forums mine got pas the hang..and i'm in... Good luck all...took about 5 mins for me.

I have tried deleting the MachoNet folder, tried to login, got the same problem
Deleted the cache folder, tried logging in, same problem.
Maybe if this thread gets big enough it will convince them to fix this.

Will try again after Downtime and let you guys know if it is still good.

Right this is really beginning to annoy me now. I've reset my router, I've opened the correct ports on my firewall, I've deleted my cache folder and yet, whilst playing; if I'm not doing something like looking at the market or checking something else that requires information to be continuously transferred between my pc and the server, I'm disconnected! If this is not sorted by the next update I'm done with this game... Seriously it doesn't help when you are based in low sec space to DC all the time!!! Please CCP! If you do acknowledge these forums take heed and sort it out!

Hi guys, just joined the game a few days ago (trial) and the first time I logged in was ok but when I logged out and tried to login the next day I couldn't it. Thought it was problem with my ISP. Clicking login triggers some network activity for a second or two but after that nothing's happening and I get connection timeout. So yeh, CCP please do something! :)

Another patch, deleted machonet, pings ok, no packet loss, all firewalls down, still getting 'connection lost' on aquiring bulk data
Vista 64 ultimate - 2GB Ram - ATI x1800 - Play everything else ok, online games are ok too, just not eve.

Happened to me too. One day it worked, next day it didn't. Literally. Stuck on "aquiring bulk data" for ages. This is stupid. So many people are having the same problem. I also payed in advanced and lost lots of money from wasted months....

Ok, I went ahead and got rid of the aescom800 dsl modem and bought a new modem from qwest (msn), an actiontecGT701 and now everything is back to normal and working great.
So, it was the old modem afterall. I am just glad that I cancelled accounts so technically ccp paid for this new modem.

Thanks for this tip Zuberi. I too had the Arescom 800 dsl modem with Qwest. Just got the Actiontec gt701 as well, and I'm able to log in again. FINALLY! \o/ I've been EVEless for three or four months now.

Originally by: CCP Sharkbait ok to all those sharing an machonet folder, you are risking your accounts security and we will not be responcable if anything happends to your account.
during the "getting bulk data" thing, you are downloading the static data, it might be that you are losing data packets which i guess could make the process hang. i am looking into this issue atm
are we getting an update on this?

Not played for 2 months, installed the 1.4.1 patch and am now hit with this problem too.
Edit: And then randomly changing settings fluked a fix; I had an "Alternate DNS Server" on the TCP/IP settings. Removing this let me in...

Edited by: Moly Bednum on 16/04/2007 05:26:51 Edited by: Moly Bednum on 16/04/2007 05:21:59 Any chance that the server upgrades this week will resolve this issue? I just built this computer, and I am having this error. I can ping TQ just fine at about 122 ms, but the game itself will lose connection before I can ever enter (Around 5 mins). It usually stops at the character selection screen, with nothing loaded ( no news or character info). I am running a clean install of XP SP2, and a clean install of eve. I have since tried the realtek driver fix, and voiceenabled=0 fix, but noting has helped. If anyone can suggest anything that might help it would be greatly appreciated.
EDIT: My laptop can connect to eve on the same wireless network as my desktop, so its not router related. I copied the machonet from the laptop to my desktop, and it hasn't helped at all either.
