o7 budding marketeers and billionaire moguls alike,
My name is Mule hauler. I've done everything from sov warfare in nullsec, pirating in lowsec, griefing in highsec and currently I'm enjoying life in wormhole space. One thing that I've always done throughout my EVE career has been trading and I've done a heck of a lot of it. In fact, during my time with Mentally Assured Destruction I made all the ISK to not only PLEX two characters consistently over a month basis but also enough to fly whatever I wanted, whenever I wanted (except supercaps and titans because BORING) station trading at Jita 4-4.
Out of game I'm a Computer Information Systems major and an okay programmer. I love CGI programming because it's realistically the only way to tie all this complicated code I've learned over the years with the average consumer. At heart I believe in the open-source developmental model and that things that help people should be free and that's exactly what I'm coming with today.
With the expansion of the EVE API to include buy and sell orders queried in real-time from the game servers I have decided to begin the development of a web application that will calculate all the pesky stuff in marketing and put it in a neat little package that traders can use to aid in dominating the market.
http://bootr.org/eve/
This tool is only in its infancy. Right now it automatically calculates profit margins from the lowest sell order and highest buy order of an item and displays it to the end user. I've completed all the back-end PHP code that allows for the generation of all the OAuth mumbo jumbo that is required before API calls can be made to the private API and all the functions that can pull all the necessary data.
It will have filters by profit margins, locations, volume, cost, etc. and it will all be freely available for anyone to use from their browser. No downloading, no installing, just a website.
I'm doing this in my free time and out of my own pocket (yes, servers do cost real money!) and the resources required to make all these requests will have a noticeable cost but I believe that this tool can easily become one of the most popularly used in EVE.
I also take ISK donations so I can spend less time jewing and more time doing what I enjoy (and that's making things explode including myself).
I'd like to see the interest the community might have in this tool so that's why I'm posting this thread! More interest will give me the motivation I need to get it done sooner :)
Thanks and see you in space,
