If CCP employees are forced to participate in the upcoming labor stikes planned for this month what might happen with Eve?
Will there be server admins available to replace dead hamsters? Will petitions be answered? Will GMs be part of this as well? Will players be allowed to run amok with no supervision?
Or
Will Eve life go on as usual with no noticable effects? |

Guess that means development will be all pushed back/delayed? Can we have a ccp rep let us know how eve will be effected from a strike?
Has any other game ever had their devs go on strike and game not die? |

Under Icelandic labor laws, foreign workers operating within the country are subject to mandatory participation in collective bargaining, for all intents and purposes mandatory union membership, a condition which does not apply to natives.

It seems some CCP emplyees are none too happy about this either.

Because its Iceland? But if you look at the reddit thread by Groski or my OOP thread you will find 2 tweets from devs saying they are going to strike. They are part of the iceland Software Development Union and the union is going on strike, hense ccp must join strike |

They are NOT in the US. Labor laws are different in every country. There are some countries where striking is illegal. For Iceland, you work in their country, you are obligated to adhear to their laws. Not saying it's right, just the way it is.

It's okay, no one knows. Just the person who thought this should be a thing.
Unions. Pah. A few people holding the masses under control, pretending to represent them.
In Austria, we are being forced to pay and be a part of the workers union. They don't give a **** about us.
And I'm not from the US.

It was just answered TWICE. Strike or be fired is the Icelandic law, you don't like it, find another job, in another country.
You acceptance of employment with an Icelandic company is your agreement to strike (and abide by the law) if called upon. |

Solecist Project wrote:How in hell can it be legal to force people to strike ? Basically the way it can be legal is for there to be a 'law' or a 'precedent' that says it's okay to require people to strike. A law is kind of like an important rule the government makes about what you are or are not allowed to do. A precedent is not quite as important as a law, but there are usually more of them.

If their union goes on strike, they have no way out. You have to follow what your union does even if you are not personally happy about it.
They will be on strike because:
1- Their membership to the union is forced by law. 2- The union they are member of are going on strike and as member they have no choice but to follow what their union decided to do. It was voted (CCP Punkturis' tweet confirms it was voted) by the members. Some voters didn't vote like in most votes (CCP Karkur tweet confirm at least one person didn't vote)
It's not about it being legal or not but about having to follow what the vote in the union was. You can't bail out of a union just because one decision does not please you. If the union vote was to go on strike, then the union will go on strike. |

Servers are hosted in GB, and even if there was a strike there it wouldn't disrupt gameplay. have you ever seen any websites go down because of a strike? I haven't. Same goes for any other online service, they continue to run.
It will likely have an impact on ticket responses (slower) and eventually development of EVE (maybe some things have to get pushed to another release).
But your day-to-day gameplay is not likely to be impacted.

The servers are physically located in London and so are the technicians who maintain it. So nothing to fear in that regard. If anything, only CCP's head office in Iceland will be shut down and others officers may temporarily pick up the slack.
