Add more variety in the types of systems in K-space, the same as wormholes have different types of effect. Add a lot of new effects, and even strategic features like "this system is hard to defend because ... but if you hold it you get..." or "this system is easy to defend because... the entosis links work at 1/10 of their effect, and you need this system to take other systems nearby"
This kind of stuff. There is a lot of talk about revamping null-sec, this kind of added geography could help small alliances have power in null sec. Space is too flat, there is not a lot of strategy involved when fighting for a region. Add this geography.
When (in history) - does a large group have trouble beating a small group? When the small group is in the mountains. Imagine now system with "mountain like features" (hard to conquer, and they block the path - do not allow the conquering of systems behind them if they are not conquered first). "Geographical features" of every kind imaginable, would make the null-sec game more interesting. |

Still, -1 to OP's suggestion.
EvE is hard. It's harder if you're stupid.
I couldn't have said it better.

Why?
NPC stations are your 'mountain like features' already. |

I think the direction you're thinking of taking it not good, but the overarching idea of a more diverse landscape is good. |

One thing I would like is more stuff like the dual station grid in thera, it was fun bouncing around there.

+1 to more unique features. -1 to ones which break game flavor (modules not working normally in K-space)

If you want 'terrain' it needs to be terrain, and change inside a system. I.E. 'Planet 5 puts out an EM field weakening shield resists within 6 AU'. Etc. So a shield fleet who's scouts check the terrain properly know not to engage that armour fleet at planet 5, and you have local forces leveraging those terrain effects to engage otherwise superior fleets who don't know about them. |

I would personally rather see that relegated to stars, lore wise it would make sense because during the Seyllin crisis the sun was emitting a massive radio-logical pulse that was reported not only to have destroyed the first planet (Seyllin I) entirely as well as half a billion people on it but also hit the shields of a listening station and fried the electric systems.
This makes for a more diverse landscape not only in terms of fleet engagement but where with the new structures alliances choose to place structures.
EX: Your EM disruption idea that fries resists to shields could lead to the decision to place the primary structures within the effect radius of the sun due to an ongoing war with a shield dominated fleet ( not that those are terribly prevalent these days ) to give an advantage to the defenders. This also makes for a more complex strategy when invading systems, particularly if certain systems have multiple debuffs and buffs active at the same time.
And who knows perhaps it could play into the Caroline's Star Anomaly that's ongoing now which reported more than a few various disruptions after it occurred.

Effects like that would definitely have an effect on the meta of ship doctrines in certain areas. |
