Hello,
New-ish EVE player here, about 5 weeks in. As I stated in a previous post, I've been killed a few times by BSUN. In a Rifter. With "T1" very low-cost modules on them. Prolly about 300,000 isk each, all told. Here's the funny thing; each and every time, it was me attacking them.
*I'd* lock.
*I'd* engage.
*I'd* fire first.
I even warped through 4 of you camping the gate to Gulfonodi in Teonosude. In a shuttle.
I'm not saying I don't understand your strategy; I do. Guerilla tactics are always best employed when facing a vastly superior force in numbers. The problem is, you're not having any effect. My corpmates still mine and run missions, I still run cargo back and forth, and we all have fun with the occasional game of "I'm bored with mining, let's see if we can catch a BSUN".
So I pull a Rifter outta the pile and go looking.
So far, the only people I've seen fighting to any degree are Unreal, Ranged Airman, and *very* rarely, UberBrooskie.
Jahnweh, Creideiki, Cxar...always docked, always in some station or another. Calculon himself? Hasn't been in a fight, or even logged on, since the first night of the war.
Anyway...I suppose my point, if I even had one when I started writing all this, is that the war has become trivial and boring. I've stopped focusing on scouting BSUN and have gone back to freighting for fun and profit as my main activities in EVE. My corpmates, even the new ones like me, have proven alert enough and smart enough that they can simply sidestep this war. About all they have for a reaction is a quick back-and-forth of "So how's the war going?" "Meh...so-and-so was logged on a bit tonight".
It's less of a disruption and more of a mildly distracting itch.

I vote this thread 'Best Drama of 2006'.
Being a Southerner my entire time in eve, I don't think I've even seen them in space and I never heard of the alliances directly involved, yet I read the whole thing outside of the obvious alt posts.
We have deception, a web of lies, a girl in the hospital (or IS she), threats, War, its all there. It could be a movie.
Oh and on a side note, I've noticed that of the eve players who say they are female, 85% of them can't seem to get a working microphone. Now either these women are smart enough to get eve working and learn to play a very complex game yet can't figure out how to plug in a microphone into that plug in the back of their computer often marked with a picture of a microphone or the obvious is true.

Yeah, it's a good read.
Really nothing much more to say. We got pilfered, have made a decision based upon numerous circumstantial points, but a decision we at least made. Unfortunate didn't do it sooner, but we usually hold off as long as possible before we cast dispersions on another character.
The "Nyarr Project" was discussed on a blog from about August 21 2006. It appears on this blog site Blog It gives a good example of the inner mechanisms of his thought process. I wasn't aware of this until the day the theft happened, but wish I would have known sooner.
So, my opinion of our lessons learned: 1. Have to move quicker. "Getting rid of the baby with the bathwater" may have been the more prudent choice in this situation.
2. The game mechanics are at polar opposites of the spectrum, and hard to balance. On one hand you need to work together as a group to grow, but on the other hand, there can always be someone in that group using information against you.
3. People will lie, and then lie some more to cover up the initial lies, and then just blatantly play stupid when caught in the lie. Think that is what is occurring here.
4. Circumstantial evidence? - pffbbtt. No one in this game is going to catch someone doing something untoward with any concrete definitiveness. We took what evidence what was available and a decision was made. Any corp would do the same thing.
In the end I am more choked at myself. One of the few times I have gone to bat defending someone, and then had to eat crow. That bothers me more than anything else. Life is full of disappointments, and why should the sand box game be any different?
Finally, the terms are a joke. What is always forgotten about people who do this is there is a core group of people that have known one another cross different mmorpgs, and for the last 3 years of this game. You can't break that no matter how much you attempt.
GL to you guys. Continue to harrass the new players if you feel you must, but you won't destroy the core.
Regards CJ
(PS - haven't been on much at all this week due to flu. Think I am finally at the age where a flu shot is probably in order?

Don't worry about us Celtic....I was speaking to a few of us newer players last night while trolling for BSUNs; they've all had so much fun with the limited PvP we've seen that they said their initial doubts about sticking with EVE long term are gone now. They LOVE it!

I actually have something nice to say.
Senlathial was game tonight! Twice I suicided my ship at her/him (no Sen, I didn't *really* think I was gonna beat your Thorax with a Vigil or a Rifter LOL) and I actually had to run away with my Stabber. Durned good fighting for once, and FUN! *REAL* FUN! Now talk to your corpmates and get them to engage with so much gusto, will ya?

It was a lot of fun, Krak. Personally, and I am speaking for myself here and no one else, I am viewing this war as just fun PvP. While in the beginning I had more of a vendetta against TSA because I knew Cal would never stoop to stealing, now I am just in the war for the fun of PvP. I believe the only TSA that are bored to tears with this war are the ones that stay in Oto blobbing it and doing very little. Those TSA that are out with us are having fun. Cheers for good fights, and for even chasing me off.

Senlathial, well, the terms of your CEO/Diplo/Etc state that we pay you to occupy Oto, hence why we are there, defiance, and any "Blob" tactics are just due to the simple fact that you guys War Dec'd an Alliance about 50 times your size. If you were comperable to our size a fleet/squad of 20-30 wouldn't seem that much to you. If you want us to pay you to occupy Oto, you may want to get us out of there first wouldn't ya think? Bring the fight to Oto, quit popping our haulers/miners, and come fight the fighters. I understand your tactic of disrupting our supply line, but to be quite honest, I've been afk flying in small ships all around and haven't seen a single one of you except the few constantly doc'd in Oto.

Considering 3 of our pilots caused over 380million in losses to you guys in the past 24 hours, I would assume that we still have a war going on.

Edited by: Senlathial on 27/11/2006 13:09:25 Ah, Ranged, give the readers a better idea of what this "10 man corp" is doing to such a large alliance, will ya! We may be a small mesquito compared to TSA, but our bites cause quite an itch. These figures are accurate as of 1300 GMT Monday, over 100 ships killed and greater than 2 B isk lost to TSA members (admittedly inaccurate killboard estimate). I love the buzzard and hulk kills, personally.

Edited in: And then Unreal just popped your hauler, that's kinda ironic Impee, don't you think?
Additionally, had you guys accepted the terms of surrender:
Quote:
4. TSA will begin payment of ISK 200,000,000 per month for residence in the BSC Operational Area, which includes the systems of Otosela, Tasti, Akkio, Uemon and Paala.
Failure to comply with these terms will result in continued war operations against all TSA targets at all locations.
Things would have been much easier for yourself and fellow pilots.
don't see any fun in that. i kind of feel bad to post in a thread that only bsc and tsa cares about though, the rest of the people on the board seems indifferent.

Not ironic about the hauler at all. It was fun. Just too bad I was on my laggy computer at the time, but hey, nothing important was lost as it was all rat loot anyways and it saved me having to move it any further :)
Bragging about kills is pointless anyways, just as *****ing about losses is. Of course a 10 man corp is likely to have a lot of kills, especially against a corp that is much larger. You have more targets to shoot at. And frankly I have better things to do than camp a station forever while you all remain docked or chase one pilot across the region. You keep doing whatever it is you do, and I'll keep making isk :)

Again, as was stated before. You're not engaging the fight in our Alliance, you are engaging (For the most part) the people who are unable to defend themselves.
There have been some fun times. Like last night when we tackled Ranged and popped his Moa, he took on the so-called "blob" fun fun. The best part was finding out for sure he had two WCS fitted (like most of you do). I just can't wait for Kali to nerf your so called fighting prowess. The fight might get a little more interesting then wouldn't ya think?
I'd like to challenge you guys though. I mean, you have what, 5-6 people actively shooting at us in this war? Why don't we fit a 5-6 person gang, go out to a safe spot, slug it out, and see who comes out on top? No warping out, no cloaks, just you vs us. Long range, short range, however you want it. That will get rid of your stabs, allow you to fit more of a tank or damage mod. What do you say? I mean seriously, don't you think it would be fun to do that? It's a friendly fight, I know I am not taking any of it personally, Calc was always good with me, the evidence against him is kinda tough to ignore, but I don't take any of it personally, cause it's just a video game to me.
If you agree to said terms just respond here or not, doesn't really matter. You can keep "disturbing our operations" if you'd like. Just some forewarning though the fighting force will move on.

I have to respond. Personally, I think this war has the potential to drag on and on and on for one very simple reason; I honestly, truly don't think either side realizes how inconsequential they are to the other.
BSUN believes they are having a measurable (measured) impact on TSA, but from all the alliance chat and TS/Ventrilo gab, no one in TSA seems to be concerned in the least. The losses quoted above are either inflated or otherwise so inconsequential to TSA as a whole that nobody really cares. Everyone's just basically going about their business.
TSA, on the other hand, isn't having much of an impact on BSUN's operations either...mainly because they will either run, hide, or simply not engage. There's nothing wrong with that, to be truthful.
So that's the situation; one alliance (TSA) taking losses that have no real effect on it, and another one that isn't affected because it's taking no losses.
Stalemate, anyone? :)

There is an argument about whether he is a corp thief or not. It's a very simple thing to figure out. Did he have the Dread when he left...or not?

Well, Calc has not been on in quite some time. As far as where it is, for all we know he could have sold it for isk to fund the war they have currently waged on us. I do know, that I was in system that day (about 3-4 hours prior) that it was found to be missing, Calc was not on, and someone was moving a Cap ship. I could not tell by the convo in local whether it was in or out, nor did I show info on the involved parties or all parties in local to see who they were as I generally don't pay attention to cap ship movements in low sec local, cause there's lots of cyno's going up all the time.
However Thor, the fact of the matter is, if I went in and swiped a cap ship from your stash (assuming you have one), and all this evidence that TSA has against Calc you had against me, it would lead you to the same logical conclusion. Other people, calling themselves Calcs freind, have also posted here with their view of calc the character and their view of calc the person behind the character.
It's the same cliche you always hear, you can lead a horse to water... well we can lead you to the conclusion that we have come up with, and show you the road, but we can't make you drink. You can choose to believe what you want to believe, however you and I both know that that Dread is not ever going to be found. Whether he did it or not, it won't be found because it's likely in storage or has been sold.
But on a side note, if you're by chance a judge I will have my lawyer request you if I ever go on trial for murder hehe j/k man. Take it easy
