Have an gaming laptop almost one year old i purchased it with 8GB stick and soon after upgraded to 24GB w 2 additional sticks.
Having always planed to max it out to 32 gigs that laptop will allow i ordered 4th stick and installed it last night.
Lapy was idle for some 12h or so and responded normally next day but with morning coffee i decided to run some benchmarking of FPS in some games (shadow of mordor,crysys3 and few others)
And laptop started to crash after few minutes in all games to desktop with standard error message that program stop working OR complete reboot with message it need to do that due to problem it encountered(win 8.1) .
Pulling out newly installed stick solved problem immediately and i was just bummed that i got bad ram stick but not being lazy i decided to put one of 3 older stick in slot 4 of ones that worked perfectly for almost a year.
And it started to crash again with 24GB of previous working sticks.
So my question to anyone knowledgeable is there w way or program that can tell me is it hardware issue or software without me doing a clean instal of a damn thing before i ship it to lunar colony for repairs warranty is about to expire.
Also i did windows own memory diagnostic tool while one of sticks was in 4th slot and it report no issues back.
Any info appreciated i have Sunday to meddle around it than its on its way to proper hands. |

It isn't the RAM. I'm no expert but the first things that come to mind:
1.) are you using a 32-bit operating system? It might not be capable of taking full advantage of your system's resources. 2.) are you using a 64-bit operating system? EVE might not be capable of making your system take full advantage of its resources. 3.) do you have a decent CPU AND a decent GPU AND a video card that isn't onboard video but is built for gaming? If you're lacking any of those, it can really throw a wrench in the works.
I won't ask if your drivers are up to date, in fact it's probably best if they aren't TOO up to date. The game -should- run fine with full up to date drivers, but I -know- that it runs fine with some pretty old and outdated drivers. Also check for computer being plugged into wall, PEBCAK, and the possibility that Windows is blocking key resources without telling you about it. If you suspect the latter, you can downgrade to Windows 7 which will still block key resources without telling you, but the game is a lot more likely to run, or you can REALLY downgrade to windows XP which will never block key resources without telling you and will give you MUCH better admin control, but won't work properly in 64-bit and you'll be stuck playing with pre-2010 specs (which EVE is pretty much stuck with, anyway).
Your computer might just be too good for EVE. Don't expect much. Worry more about making the game run, even if it means disabling or removing fancy features. Remember, this game is over ten years old.

Not much details here but - how mixed type RAM you got installed here ? - how does your laptop support memory banks / have you tried switching places ?
If your laptop doesn't have inbuilt hw test, you could try something like MemTest86 (USB/ISO boot), and always run the long/extended test.

@ Reaver
I am using win 8.1 64 bit 4th gen i7 48xx running stock clock of 2.8
GTX 870m 6gbVram dedicated GPU
identical to the letter 4 8gb ram sticks
Problem is 4th slot when occupied with ram stick is crashing a system
when nothing is there system is stable, windows is recognizing all of 32gigs when installed ram correctly.
@ Miiral
I will try to switch places did not think that with identical rams it would matter and i did run Windows built in memory diagnostic tool that as well have extended test option i might run it over night to see will it show any errors normal test did not
and will try mem86 test as well, thank you.
i don't know what you mean by memory bank support.
Edit
atm lapy run shadow of mordor at ultra for almost 4h with sticks in slots 1-3 (24 gigs total)without problems. |

it can be it looks perfectly fine will not crash system except something demanding is running(games) and it does it at random intervals
Far cry 4 in 10 minutes
shadows of mordeor in 2min
then less demanding ones in 20 min.......
i don't have experience with this i guess i just expected to it either work or don't not this random crap that is making me think it is some software glitch and il be sending laptop for trip around the world for nothing.

I was referring to just how your laptop supports different kind of memory sticks in different slots, but if you got identical ram sticks, it doesn't really matter. I assume you got latest bios/firmware for you laptop installed ?

1) what is the exact pc model? maybe it really can;t support the ammount of ram you have in it.
2) google memtest86 this is a free memory testor program, burn it to a cd or flash drive and boot off that let it do two full passed (will take a few hours) that will tell you ran errors.
3) if that passes, i recomment clean install the os and try again.
but to answer yoru questing memtest86

Hello there it is clevo gaming laptop and it does support 32 gigs of ram.
Windows default memory diagnostic tool when set to expanded test did detect an hardware issue and recomended contacting computer manufacturer.
I am conducting one last expanded test with newest ram stick alone just to remove any possibility of it being malfunctioning before i ship it for repairs or im guesing mobo change. |

Sounds to me like a hardware issue, but have you tested it on other games? You know, games built to use 32 gigs of ram? If it has the same problem on those, then it's probably hardware. If they don't, it's likely compatibility with EVE.

From what manufacturer are those RAM Sticks, and what kind of srash do you get?
The plain old CTD or just blackscreen and reboot?

Ram are Gskill Ripjaws they do get warm but nothing serious like you can hold them without problem compared to cpu/gpu.
Dont think there are games that need that much ram but sticks need to be functional for whole system to be stable,in this case sticks are fine but 4th slot is deffective.
Any combination of slots 1 thru 3 is fine any combination involving 4th slot is not. |

Some apple Imac had a similar problem in 2011 would crash with black screen at random intervals as soon as 4 memory slots were eqipped with the maximum possible RAM configuation, funny thing, it wouldn't crash as soon as you'd install some non-overclocked Original Samsung Memory Modules OR 4 sticks one sizes smaller (2GB per stick instead of 4GB).
Ever since then I'll try to get either Samsung Memory or if those aren't available sticks once size smaller for testing purposes. In you case that'd be 16GB divided on four sticks.

It is weird issue these sticks are under lifetime warranty and stress tested before they are shiped i dont think samsung rams would do any different imo.....your guess make sense to me but on other hand i used 24gb ram in slots 1-3 for 8 months w/o even one glitch
If i just swap one of those tested rams in slot 4 it will start crashing games or whole laptop same as if you put all 32gigs. |

Yea that sound like a bad ram slot to me. If the laptp is under warranty i'd have that looked at. Otherwise you might just have to live with 24gb of ram
