Anyone still having issues? I am after several days of troubleshooting. Then wiping it completely and trying again still unable to get to the character selection screen. Either get buffer overrun or black screen. Tried everything i could find on the forums to fix it and nothing and no response on my help ticket. 1 question did ya'll download the resource files? its like 7.7 gigs and i have never done it before and letting it download now as a last resort. |

My 'fix' was just trying over and over and basically letting it download for ages (on my 3mbps broadband) and now it's better. |

Patch of yesterday along with a new clonemaker clone fixed multiboxing for me .. TYVM CCP o7
I kind of like the new icons too .. but they make the overview paradoxically look more cluttered |

Still unable to log into game since patch. After clicking play on the launcher I get a black screen that either just closes or gives me a buffer overrun error. Any information on how to fix this would be great. Thanks.

I am attempting to do a complete reinstall of EvE on a latest model 15" MacBook Pro after intentionally nuking the previous installation from planetary orbit. While I have previously run EvE on the same machine without any issues, my attempt to upgrade the existing client to Carnyx ran very, very, ... *Very* slowly. As I lost patience I assumed something had gone awry with the launcher update and completely removed the old installation, including Preference/Library files.
However the slow download remains even after downloading the client anew from CCP. Currently I am cloking in the first 285MB hunk of data at less than 1 MB per hour, varying somewhat. This would mean it will take around 14 days of 24/7 download just for this part of the download. After that there are the 20 (?) odd GB of data files. If the 1MB/h download speed persists, once I get to the game data, then it will take about 2 years, 3 months and 14 days before I can log in.
OS X 10.10.3, all updates applied. MacBook Pro (Retina, 15-inch, Mid 2014) Processor 2,2 GHz Intel Core i7 Memory 16 GB 1600 MHz DDR3 Graphics Intel Iris Pro 1536 MB
Networking on the Mac otherwise seem perfectly fine for any other network related activities. |

Ooohh, this is golden... (Update to my previous post.)
This doesn't appear to be a bug in the client at all. Upon further digging, I came across this thread here on the EvE forum, where people, who are customers at a particular US ISP, are discussing upstream network issues relating to downloading client data for EvE. The problem ... and the 'cure' ... seem to be exactly the same for me.
Doing a traceroute to cdn1.eveonline.com in a terminal 'falls off the deep end' after a few hops, so no wonder the download is abysmally slow. However, if I connect via privatetunnel.com, a VPN service, everything speeds up nicely, and I am now 92% through the initial 294MB d/l.
I hope people in Reykjavik are awake at the helm, because this may be a genuine 'brown pants' moment for you. I live nowhere near the south-eastern US, and do most certainly not use the same US ISP/service provider. In fact I live in Denmark.
So whichever clever bloke at whatever corp came up with this new form of traffic shaping... His 'genius' idea appear to be spreading to other parts of the world.
Oh, and my client is now ready. Apparently I didn't delete the game data cache after all... OK, gtg. (But you, CCP, better think closely about this, because most mortals probably won't have a clue as to how they apply this type of VPN workaround.) |

Yeah. All is good on my end with a Macbook Pro. But I am still definately having the issues with the Shader and cloaking bug.
CCP - when can we expect to see a fix to this medium shader problem? |

Edit: Can confirm the game works nicely, once I had the most recent version of the software downloaded. So I'm OK for now.
I can confirm that there is a network problem, however it must have something to with the mac client (or Wine) as well. I use EVE on a Windows 7 PC and a Macbook Air (i7, 8GB, OSX 10.8.5) sharing the same internet connection. The problem only appears on the Mac, everything works fine under Win7.
On my Mac the old EVE client would not update. It reported that it could not connect to the EVE server. Last time I had used the Mac client (several months ago) everything had been fine.
After not being able to upgrade the client, I deleted the old installation and downloaded the mac installer again. It starts the launcher fine and the launcher then downloads the first patch @ approx 17 MBit/s. Then it starts to download the updates and after a few hundred KB (3MB tops) the download stops, but the launcher keeps using 50% CPU. I left the launcher running over night, but the download had not progressed any further. In this state the launcher can only be force quit via the Activity Monitor.
I tried this about 5 times, I even installed the EVE windows client twice using PlayOnMac, but got the exact same result each time. |
