And my professor is now talking about fluid resistance and terminal speed and then low speed fluid friction.
I think that "submarine phyaics" is still wrong.
Its not underwater physics either according to my professor Uhm, people tend to learn and retain information better if they're not distracted, i.e. posting on web forums during class is probably not the best way to spend your academic time and money.
His parents are paying (for a sub-par education.) I learned the same stuff in 8th grade Earth Science. |

Dear OP,
You need to also consider the possibility that New Eden is based from a different universe, with accompanying different universal constants. That the Eve gate took people far further than simply to another region of space from where earth was once located.
As a result. - Newton's laws do not apply here because he was -NOT- born here. Nor Einstein's teachings or those of Mr. Hawking. |

Its a video game. Not real life.

Or maybe Newton was right and Einstein wrong. And that the Luminiferous Aether is a drag. |

Thanks Sadly, EVE is a fantasy. That is your answer.
Once upon a time the Golem had a Raven hull and it looked good. Then it transformed into a plataduck. The end.

Because there's no gravity? There is unless every thing somehow has no mass.
The mass of an object is constant though it's weight varies in relation to the environmental conditions.

Do you really want to see gas/petrol stations floating at every stargate and space station?
Actually that could make for some interesting situations with local chat going something like "oops i run outta gas , sitting duck now ".
We are all born ignorant, but one must work hard to remain stupid.

delta V calculations and fuel mass... gotta stop at a POS to top off the tank. Wow, migraine incoming. I'm just thankful that our nav computers are as accurate as they are.... even with space being static, it'd really suck to have a real margin of error when warping beyond simple pilot derps.
Come hell or high water, this sick world will know I was here.

Step back from the physics book before you hurt yourself Carrie.

Shields are generating mass to stop explosive and kinetic damage from hitting your armor. That mass is generated outside your ship, but obviously partially inside the warpfield. Hence the drag. Thats also why small ships can warp faster and why certain ships with modified shields (Dramiel, interceptor, Machariel ) warp faster.
I don't understand how you lot missed that.... |

I'm not too concerned about Eve's fantasy astrophysics, it's hard enough to get the ships to do what you want without bringing how hard it really would be to get them to do that into it. |
