Well, I saw the film.
And this Bond movie is one of the very best I have seen. I've seen them all at some stage. Only Goldfinger beats it in my book... just.
And to all the premature dumb asses who said Daniel Craig was wrong for the part, I say go and see for yourself and then kindly shut the **** up about his hair being blond, or his face not being attractive. He is raw yet recognisably like the very best aspect of previous Bonds.
He is different yet familiar and he is 'pure' Bond, he carries the film above his shoulders and hurls it ahead of him and only GOD Connery can beat this guy at the moment.
And the story.... my god the tension and the raw energy that this fabulous tale has! It is no exaggeration to say that never once did I think 'why is this happening'. I was spellbound.
The focus was on the tale and not the girls, the cars or the gadgets. Not forgotten, but wisely left in the background. This is a return to what was the very best part of early Bond movies. In short, the premiere of this film may be remembered as the day 007 finally restored the lustre to the franchise which for so long has been badly lacking.
The only letdown, sadly, is the title music. What utter crap that was. And this denies it a 10/10, since the music is so key to Bond films. How could they get everything else so right and muck the music up?
9.5/10

I wasn't that bothered about this, I'm not a JB fan except for the 2 Timothy Dalton films, but once I heard his Bond is very much like Dalton's I want to see it.

It is a brilliant film, couldn't wait for it and so saw it on thursday, hooray for no lectures!
A very fun film, plenty of violence and some fantastic one liners. Its a decent length too (2.5 hours :D) which keeps you gripped.

I really really liked the way they handled the card game. Very edgy, very tense.
And Eva Green really is hot, and can obviously act. Obviously

Saw this on Sat and must say, it's one of the best James Bond in a while. Less fantastic and a storyline that's much tighter. Craig also brings a tougher James Bond image, very much like Sean Connery. Also this is one of the darker and grimer of the James Bond stories.

Don't get me wrong, I liked the film, I liked Daniel Craig, and I think the plot-centered movie is far superior to the gadget and explosion centered Bond films of recent memory.
I just think that it ended a bit weak.... it almost seemed that it peaked at the end of the 3rd act... and the 4th act was lower energy.
That being said, I would easily have paid twice as much to see this movie. I think Canadian Paul Haggis, who worked on streamlining the script, was a major help. With films like 2004's Crash and Million Dollar Baby in his portfolio, I hope he is involved in subsequent Bond movies. (From IMDb: "On March 5, 2006, Paul became the first person in the history of the Academy Awards to write two back-to-back Best Picture Winners, for Crash and the previous year's winner, Million Dollar Baby.")
I also like the Black and White opening scene... very classy... almost Quentin Tarantino-esque.

If you think Eva Green is really hot you should check out a movie called The Dreamers. Cool movie and she gets really really nekkid in it. ----------------------

Yea it was good, but certainly not one of the best bond films.
No gadgets, too many blatent Sony/Ford plugs, no sexy bond girls at the start, and no Q/R. He was barely in the car for more then 2 minutes before he wrecked it.
I realise that its Bond's first 007 mission but its just not a proper Bond film. Hes not smooth, suave and cool.
9/10 for a good film but only 6/10 for a Bond film.

I thought it was pretty good, and the way they ended it... to me that was totally a "In the next one, we're TOTALLY bringin' it back 007 style. Ohhhh yeahhhh."

Edited by: QwaarJet on 24/11/2006 06:30:43 Edited by: QwaarJet on 24/11/2006 06:29:58 I saw it on Monday. Good film, poor Bond film. it was completely unrecognisable, and pretty boring. It started off great, but as soon as Vesper appeared the pace dropped and it turned into more of a romantic drama than a freaking bond film. The ending was no where need epic enough to seem like the end. The real ending was nice, but it happened way to late to save the film.

we all went to watch it the other day. i was alittle dissapointed there was no female nudity in it, but otherwise i think it was a good turn around for a bond movie and was good to watch. i just hope they don't get silly with any other bond films they make.

Watched it last night and it was fantastic, so dark , you were actually watching a spy movie rather than action man.
Only complaint is it dragged on a bit at the end but otherwise two thumbs up.

that the only bit of the film I hated. Craig spent most of the film half naked, what ever happened to the bond girls?

The movie was meant to show how Bond became Bond, it wasn't meant to show the Bond we already know. The old ones became cheesy, and i think this one refreshes the idea of James Bond, which is a good thing.
Incidentally, the book closely follows the original book by Ian Fleming, so this *is* the real Bond.

Awesome awesome film. Craig is better than all barring possibly Connery, and even thats a close call.
Just hope they don't wreck the next few like they did with everything post-goldeneye.
