Keeping faction standing from tanking with one faction or another is a painful grind that doesn't really add much fun to the game of EVE. I run missions in Stain with Sansha. Doing so causes me to have very negative standing with Empire factions, primarily Amarr. So in order to be able to keep flying in Amarr space I have to play the balancing act of missioning in null making good isk. Then coming back down to Amarr space and running mission for them to grind my standings back up.
The standing mechanic in general I find makes the game painful to play. I really wish CCP would stop making negative standing have such a huge effect in comparison to positive standing.
So what are the positives of negative faction standing for the game of EVE? How does it make the game better? How does it help or hinder the economy. Lastly, the ultimate question all games makers should ask themselves - How does it make the game more enjoyable to play? |

Well, basically it's based on consequences for your actions. Can't expect a Faction to like you when you're constantly attacking and destroying them or building up standing with their enemy.
As for grinding up Amarr standings, there's an easy way to do it, just keep watch on your standings and when they start to get low, just run the Amarr Epic Arc which can be repeated every 3 months. Course you'll have to first build up standing with the starting Agent's Corporation and maintain their Faction above -2.00 standing for access.
You can also run the level 1 SoE Epic Arc and choose Amarr for completion. Just need to keep Empire Factions above -5.00 standing for ease of travel.
I don't know what else to say except good luck.

Do not look at only the negative side of standings. For example, if you have standings +8 to say with Caldari State, you will have +4 standings with Amarr Empire. This means that you will have access to many lvl 4 agents in Amarr space without being obliged to do even single mission for any Amarr corporation. |

Actually +5 is needed to access lvl 4 agent |

Mmmm, maybe it`s true for corporative standings?
I have ~+ 8.3 with Caldari and ~4.1 with Amarr and I have access to lvl 4 Amarr agents. Not to all, but to "aides to gouverment" corporation`s agents. |

5.0 or above standing is required to have access to level 4 agents and that is game wide so somewhere in your myriad of standings there is something that is 5.0 or above that is giving you access to those agents. |
