This makes most of my argument.
One thing I would like to add is to make drones capable of "repair me" Your drones are a "slot" on your ship, so to speak.
Who in their right mind would make a repair drone that can't be used on themself?

The same guy who decided you can't point your remote armor repairer at yourself. Drones are generally considered to replace a high slot, although EW drones take the role of medium-slot mods. -------------- Civis Ascendant Sum |

Remote armor repairers, I can see. They're simply pointed away from the ship and that's that.
But maintenance drones aren't uniquely pointed away from you.
The fact that you can't use them on yourself seems like a HUGE waste.
I don't see a huge advantage to this either. In PVP, you launch maintenance drones, and start healing yourself, the other guy BLOWS THEM AWAY! They'd repair for a few moments and not much more.
They repair significantly less than a normal module as well. Even with all 5 on you, you're still not healing a full shield or armor repairer.
In missions, it would severely take away from your damage. I know I let my drones kill ALL of the frigates. Using repair drones means I have to sacrifice that space and kill the drones with my onboard weapons, wasting ammo, etc.
I think it is a fairly minor COMMON SENSE improvement to let your maintenance drones target yourself.

Is it just me or do drones just simply NOT WORK since the Revelations patch?
I ordered my 5 hobgoblins to attack an NPC rat in a level 3 mission. One was already engaged on the intended target, the other 4 were off doing whatever the **ll they felt like.
The one kept attacking the intended target, the other four disengaged their current targets, flew toward the intended target for about half a second, changed their minds, and all 4 chose ENTIRELY NEW different targets, none of which actually decided to engage the cruiser NPC that I WANTED them to. It took at least ten times of rapidly giving them the same attack order over and over again until they finally decided "Oh gosh, what a concept! FOLLOW ORDERS!"

The reason they can't repair you is because of Eve mechanics.
Simply put, you can't target yourself.

Simply put, there needs to be a button added in the right click menu for repair drones "Repair ship and drones" that either first repairs your ship and then your drones or otherway around.

Simply put, I REALIZE I can't target myself.
Simply put, Make it so I can repair myself.
Also, fix the drones. I don't like ordering my drones to all consolidate on one target like five to ten times before they actually do it.

it would be very cool if repair drones automatically targeted and repaired who ever called for their assistance using the new gang commands. same thing with logistics ships, have them auto target and repair who ever calls for help, and may be have a skill for it to control the maximum amount of friends you can auto repair at a time, or the range, or even a module that automatically does this.

Repair drones should be able to be used on friendly targets without targeting them first.
Meaning that you select guy from group window (yourself or some other toon) and command drones to 'attack' him. (could be as easy as R-Click and select 'repair' and drones do their thing)
Forcing support ships to target whoever they want to help in combat is just silly IMO. --- Get rid of those *bleep*ing secure containers. *bleep*! |

I like the idea of being able to like support drones to broadcasts at squad level.
