You can buy PLEX for $35, and some sites give you a bonus PLEX for buying enough of them.

I figured it out that you could pay in PLEX at a monthly equivalent cost of $16.79 (14.88 EU / 131.32 NOK) That's based on PLEXing monthly for two years though...

It's similar here in that we pay more "Because Taxes" (nudge, wink) but the discounted CCP long-term packages still work out cheaper. (equivalent 10 EU / 90 NOK @ 12 mth)

If I was paying monthly, I'd still be paying by PLEX bought from US sellers for dollars.

They did change EU tax laws in January this year to mean that digital services get charged VAT in the consumers country - so this change is probably related to that and isn't going to go away. It must apply in Norway too as an EEA member.

An increase from 15 euros to 20 euros is NOT a 50% increase, not at all. It's a 33% increase. Calling a 33% increase a 50% increase is worse than calling 20 euros equal to 15 euros (50/30= 1,66; so a 66% increase, while 20/15=1,33 is a 33% increase). Since even with a 66% difference things still equal to you we can deduct that you shouldn't be able to tell a difference when it's only a 33% increase.

So with your math skills I guess you don't have any problem since your subscription didn't change then. You should only notice a difference when it's an increase by at least 66%. So please stop the whining until a subscription costs you 25 euros

Well you can also grind ISK to get PLEX and keep playing. That is technically the best option as CCP keeps your sub and you don't pay the new charges.

It is clearly documented here (section 4.3), that "The supply of digital products, such as music or software via the Internet, is regarded as the supply of a service."

Maybe this just changed maybe it didn't, the fact of the matter is you do need to pay VAT and CCP had not been previously charging you VAT, someone either demanded it from them, or the lawyers noticed this oversight and made a change to policy to protect the company.

That's not what it says in the message you posted in the OP, and if the law is 4 years old, it is hardly surprising that they have to pay VAT, now is it? Again, the bigger mystery is how and why you were allowed to be billed in USD for so long.

Billing changes for Norwegian players

We would like to announce billing changes that will affect our Norwegian players as of July 1st.

We will need to remit VAT to the Norwegian government as of July 1st. As such, we will need to change the billing currency of all Norwegian users to EUR.

This change will come into effect at the start of July, and from this point onward all Norwegian users will be billed in EUR.
