Quote:When running on test servers, the EVE Online client gathers data that is used to help us improve the quality and performance of the client.
This data may include personally identifiable information and be transmitted to, processed and/or stored on 3rd party servers as well as on CCP's network.
Do you agree to send us your data? If you do not agree, the client will terminate. What personal data is being distributed to 3rd party servers and why?
No option to NOT be a part of having my personal data sent to and stored on 3rd party servers, except to not use the test server?
Do you really see the need to drive more players from the game by insisting they allow their personal information stored on unknown and therefore un-trusted 3rd party sites?
You want to gather data to help improve quality and performance and use 3rd parties to help that process, by all means do it. Just don't include personally identifiable information. I like to believe and trust, my personal information held by CCP is safe and not accessible to anyone outside relevant CCP employees. I don't trust that an unknown 3rd party is going to safeguard my personal information in a way that I am comfortable with.
My opinions are mine.

Also, your IP and MAC address could be considered personally identifiable data since they are tied back to your ISP account and your PC. The client doesn't have your credit card data, since account management isn't done through it. Loosen the tin foil and think. If you have as indicated read the sticky ( which I must admit i missed among the 18 others on the same page.)
Quote:Generally we don't log out any sensitive information, certainly no passwords or anything like that, but when logging warnings or errors we sometimes log out the full pathname of files being accessed GÇô if those are stored in your Users folder the user name may be seen in that path. There may be other cases where something that might be considered personally identifiable data will go into those logs. The warning is right there. They aren't simply collecting data from the client, they are collecting data from your computer. The data collected from individuals could include, what other programs you have running while the eve client is open as those programs could affect how the client behaves. So NEVER enter a password your not happy to share with unknowns into anything while you have the test client open, it will be logged.
If in these days of cyber theft you are happy to have your personal information collected by unknown 3rd parties, more power to you. I don't have much but what i do have am not prepared to risk.
BTW, my tinfoil hat is just the right size. I am able, unfortunately able to speak from experience on how easily seemingly innocent personal data can be misused.
My opinions are mine.

Please continue the discussion in this thread. We are only gathering data, which would show up in logserver (and your ip-address might get added though the sending process itself).
Locking.
