If you want to sell an item at the cheapest price, don't try to be the cheapest of the whole system.
Instead, sort the orders by jumps and set your order to be the cheapest within a few jumps.
This way, you're the cheapest "locally" and still can make more money than by being the cheapest "globally".

Minerals you mine are NOT for free !
They have what is called an opportunity cost !
Although you should probably read at least the first paragraph, i'll sum it up for you as ...
Whatever you do, you can always get more money doing something else !
This means, by doing something that gains you less money than something else, (which happens most of the time) whatever it is you're doing ... it costs you money.
If this confuses you, then check the market/contracts for whatever you've got "for free" and you know the range of it's current value, depending on your position. Inappropriate signature removed. Spitfire |

Using a bigger ship doesn't necessarily mean that you can beat every smaller ship.
Using more expensive modules doesn't necessarily mean that you're ship is fitted better.
Buying a three year old character brings you nothing if you don't know how to use it.

If you can't fit stuff on your ship, check if you need to skill your support skills higher.
The most BASIC support skills are Electronics for CPU and Engineering for PowerGrid.
If you believe that you need a bigger ship because you lack CPU/PG, but you haven't skilled these two to V yet, then you'll learn it the hard way.
For additional information, please read the evelopedia page about fitting ships and remember to use google. Inappropriate signature removed. Spitfire |

Ranger 1 wrote:Halcyon Ingenium wrote:Your stealth bomber must be moving for a launched bomb to move. I wish people would stop saying this. No, you do not have to be moving to launch a bomb successfully. When bombs were first introduced they only had the velocity your ship imparted to them, this was changed. Now, when you launch a bomb if fly's away from you for 30km and detonates (10 seconds after launch) regardless of your velocity. It "is" true that it is always a good idea to be moving when you launch a bomb. It launches straight ahead of you so be careful not to over run it. Best practice is to have a warp out point dialed up and ready located directly on the opposite side of your target from where you are. That way you are already aligned and at speed to warp immediately after you decloak and launch. Bombs will detonate (as long as you do not cloak or leave system prior to detonation) whether you are on grid with it or not. You can now see the detonation point and radius by hovering your mouse over your bomb launcher in tactical view.
Im sure i read a recent forum thread in which is was proved that you need to be moving for a bomb to launch.
It makes sense, because if you are not moving, the game doesnt know which way is 'forward' to launch your bomb. |

I used to store all the modules and ammo for a single ship in a small container so I can highlight all the contents, right click and fit to existing ship.
Instant refit without having to search for modules. |

CCP karkur wrote:can I play? here are a few things I can think of which I'm not sure everyone knows of:
- "snapped" windows can be moved together by holding down shift
- there is a compare tool (news to some people :P), you open it from the variation tab in info windows. When it's open you can drag stuff to it.
- you can open many info windows (either by changing setting in ESC window or holding shift down while you click "show info")
- if you drag the solarsystem menu thingy (above your route) to any edit field, you create a link to your solarsystem
- there are shortcuts for almost all windows and combat commands
- you can add whole categories/groups from the market to the quickbar by right clicking them and select "add group to quicbar root/folder"
- when sending mail to your corp or alliance, you can write "corp" or "alliance" in the TO field and it will be converted to the name of the corp/alliance
- you can sort your mails by assigning them labels. Each mail can have many different labels.
- holding ctrl down freezes the overview
- you can display the session change timer
- you can drag stuff from your cargo to the ship/item button in the neocom and it will be moved to the hangar
- there are filters in the settings tab in the market window. There you can filter out orders, but also filter the list on the left hand side so it won't show you stuff you cannot use on your current ship or don't have the skills for
- the search field in the asset window has some clever advanced search functionality (was a devblog on it recently)
- you can group a few thing together in the necom (right click empty space in the neocom and go to "configure")
- you can import songs in the jukebox
- the calculator is awesome
- when in space, if you click something and hold the mouse down, you get some action panel
- you can zoom better in on things by holding down the right mouse button, move the mouse a little bit up or down, and then hold down the left mouse button (holding both down) and move the mouse up.
The first one was the only one I didn't know about =D
And btw the neocom one no longer applies, but I know what you were talking about, I was probably one of the only people that had that extra category that grouped the market, science and industry, fitting and the militia office on the old neocom
Here's mine: You can right click the capacitor display in the HUD for a quick way to get to the context menu for your own ship. Works great when trying to fumble for the eject button of a T3 cause you don't have to move your camera to find your ship visibly to click it.

* You can check "Force Field" in your overview settings to quickly check whether the POS's that show up on your d-scan are actually maintained (useful in wormholes). If you have a filter for POS modules in your overview, you can also check that upon discovering a POS without a force field to see if there are any fragile items like corp hangars and SMA's hanging out all defenseless like. Hey, it happens
* Speaking of the overview, you can open overview settings even while docked if you type "/open_overview_settings" in chat. You can do lots of things like this with the right text command, actually, but I find the overview one to be the most useful. Remember, a badly setup overview can mean you go boom before you know it. You can add up to 5 tabs to your overview to toggle between filters quickly.
* Make docking bookmarks at stations you dock at often, if warping to zero to those stations lands you outside the docking range. These bookmarks work best if they are somewhere very close to the structure while well within "0" range from station.
* Don't warp gate to gate around Rancer Make a bookmark somewhere not in line with a gate or a celestial and always warp there first, then to the gate. Otherwise it's "back to jita kid"
* If you want to warp to an object at a specific distance not covered in the default "warp within [n] km" options, you can select an object you can warp to, then right click the "warp" button and type in the desired distance. Don't forget that you changed it though, change it back when done.
* To deliver multiple industry jobs that are ready and in your skill-based control range, select all the ready ones and hit "Deliver".
* You can burn out your capacitor by initiating and cancelling warp multiple times to give you greater control over bookmark placement in space.
* You can place command centers on planets from anywhere in orbit even when cloaked.
* View contents of any non-password protected container, and any ship in your assets by right-clock -> view contents.
* The only way to make your cargo containers unscannable with cargo scanners is to put stuff in cargo container, then create a courier contract for that container (or multiple containers). The can is what will show up on the cargo scanner, not the contents. Other methods, excluding the Orca corp hangar, don't work (yes, even "audit log secure containers", srs.)
* You can transport assembled ships in your freighter if you accept them as a courier contract.
* DCUs are not stack nerfed for resists, unlike, say, EANMs. |
