Drifters ... mysterious, highly powerful and dangerous beings. Their presence in New Eden is starting to become a considerable threat to both NPC Empires and Capsuleers, but where do they come from? What do they want? What is their connection to the Jove? And what lurks behind those Unidentified Wormoles? Death and destruction? Fantastic riches? Unimaginable power?

I am confused: Is it the Drifters or the Goons doing Burn Amarr shortly? Also, nice summing up of events.

CCP Affinity saw the Goons' Burn Amarr date, looked at the Drifter plotline, and then decided to work all night to tweak the Drifter AI to "synergize" with the Goons' actions as a means of determining if the New & improved NPC AI is a bigger pain in the arse than the Goons.

Ooh, unfriendly to Chribba? That's about the only thing that could unite the Eve players against them, so probably a bad move on their part. :-)

When the Drifters gank the Veldnaught.. there will be all out war.

- Barbican - a fortified outpost, protecting the path (eg, drawbridge) to a structure (eg, castle.)
- Conflux - a flowing together
- Redoubt - literally, "a place of retreat"; a small fortified structure not attached (or even near) a main defensive structure
- Sentinel - an entity that stands guard and watches, often attached to a stationary element such as a border
- Vidette - a mobile sentry in advance of a combat force
These are all functions hinted at by the blog about the new deployables. The are all elements that can be found inside the Drifter vaults.
I would not be surprised if these Elements end up being used as manufacturing materials for some new deployables, much like Antikythera Elements are used to manufacture Entosis Links. This ties in nicely with lore, since presumably (some of) these deployables can be manipulated by Entosis Links. That is, this is Drifter tech and it interfaces with other Drifter tech we've already found.
Currently, these Elements appear to be exceedingly rare. Possibly some event relating to the drifter story will make them easier to acquire - for example, Antikythera Elements come from Drifters, Circadians and Observation Towers, but we cannot assume that those will always be present in New Eden. Or, they are meant to be very rare as a form of price control.
Random thoughts -
Will POSes and other structures that will eventually be replaced by these new deployables be ultimately removed by the Drifters going on a New Eden-wide rampage some point in the future, forcing our adoption of this new tech?
If the new shields that prevent damage to station services is based on CONCORD shields, but Entosis Links can enable or disable station services, what effect does an Entosis Link have on a CONCORD ship?

No, at that point people will (finally!) accept (or realize) that CCP Seagull is slowly boiling the high-sec frog, i.e. Empire space will crumble and *everyone*, except those in the rookie systems, will only be safe(-er-ish) in null-sec.
The Former Empire Space will be a PvE theme park ravaged by Drifters (or the NPC of the Month) for carebears to play in, but they'll need to keep their loot in a null-sec station which requires joining a null-sec alliance. (And there will be a need for recruits, e.g. the Fleet Warp Change.)
After the tears, people will finally realize the shift in gameplay was worth the concurrent reduction in "let's make high-sec 0.0 for a day!" threads.

What Chribba didn't tell you is his extensive research concluded that Drifters are vulnerable to fireworks.

Hell yeah, *grabs a tinfoil hat* lets do this
Maybe the Drifters attacked the Amarr because of the research in to the Antikythera Element and the development and relase of the Entosis Link. But, my question is what responsibility have the Minmatar for those actions?
The Minmatar, you ask? Yes, the Minmatar! These are my (tinfoil thick) evidence that the Minmatar cooperate withe the Joves.
if you look at the Naglfar class Dreadnought of the Minmatar you'll see that its structure is quite the same as the structure of the Jove Observatorys. This and the ship discription Quote:The Naglfar is based on a Matari design believed to date back to the earliest annals of antiquity. While the exact evolution of memes informing its figure is unclear, the same distinctive vertical monolith form has shown up time and time again in the wind-scattered remnants of Matari legend. have convinced me that it was the Minmatar who send the Drifters to the Amarr in revenge for the centuries of slavery.
