I was complaining a while back, gilas, tengus and cynabals doing angel refuges in highsec fit to murder them as fast as possible. I can't compete in a destroyer. These sites aren't worth it for that kind of ship.
So I made a topic asking for advice on how to kill them.
Well anyways now in the future I took a catalyst with polarized guns and tried to kill a gila, because you can't wardec an NPC corp. Let's just say I didn't even take 1/10 of his shields off because he had a huge buffer.

The only thing he looted was the 4 polarized guns, figures he is Russian after all.
Maybe I should just quit EVE. I go after scammers and farmers attempting to gank them and just end up giving them ISK because this happened the last time I attempted to gank a killright scammer without activating the killright. I just ended up giving him a 15 mill killright.
It's high security space. It is very easy to make yourself nearly impossible to kill, to say nothing of the scammers and other trade hub denizens with their almighty station tank.
You are not going to be able to kill a risk-averse farmer in a buffer tanked cruiser without devoting massive resources to the task, or being extremely creative. You would need multiple players or alts in Tornados or thrashers firing into his resist hole in a .5 system, or you'd need to stalk him relentlessly until he gets a valuable escalation, follow him in and see if stealing his deadspace loot is enough to make him aggress you. Whilst having a solid plan in place to take down a buffer tanked Gila dishing out 600 DPS from medium drones alone.
Awesome killmails don't happen every day, nor should they. Patience, creativity, effort, and some luck is required. Participate in regular low/nullsec gate camps and a sufficient dose of patience and luck will suffice.
The desired safety level of highsec is hotly debated here but my own opinion is that you should be able to make yourself nigh impossible and extremely unprofitable to gank, and also immune to wardecs. If you find that state of affairs unsatisfactory, leave highsec. A Galmil corp I fly with on a regular basis frequently catches multi-billlion ISK targets while gatecamping in frigates or T3 dessies. Expecting to solo gank everything you can't wardec or bait in highsec is not realistic.

My advice when someone insults you is to check that person's rank on battleclinic.
Battleclinic gives less points for kills with greater advantage (ie. Killing a ship with your 20 buddies or killing a frigate with a proteus)
Loads of no-skill ass-clowns have lots of kills and no points. I've generally found battleclinic rankings to reflect skill. It's imperfect, but the best measure I've found.
Just keep that in mind when you get arbitrarily insulted by null-leetists who find anything that doesn't involve f1 to be sub par. Mo |

I imagine if you jet around highsec running dozens every day you can make a dime or two off the ones that escalate to 3 and 4/10s. I've thought about trying it in something fast and hard hitting like a cynabal, but popping legions of low payout frigates and destroyers gets boring really fast.

If they are super risk averse AND in an NPC corp, it's tough to kill them.
I recommend scanning the fit to see if bringing out a horde of gank destroyers or battlecruisers is worthwhile. Some of these guys might be running around in a stupidly shiny ship. If it's T2...not worth it.
Baiting in something believably non-threatening and not obvious bait is your best move then.

I've made billions of isk with an Astero. Sometimes you get beat by the cruisers sometimes not. Luck is sometimes what you make of it.
A few tips.
Know the triggers and the spawn points for the Boss (Dread, etc). Sit right on it and put everyhting into that. Even if the other guy kills it, align and steal the loot. Then taunt him in local after your getaway.
Don't kill what you don't have to. It will slow the other guy down.
Keep a pvp ship nearby. Drop an MTU in the site, and see if he bites for it. Alternately, shoot his if he deploys one. Then go get your pvp ship and come back or meet him at the next site.
Don't use regular probes, use combat probes. And leave them out while you run the site. This freaks many people out for some reason.
One last nasty trick. If there is a Sleeper Observation tower in the system, you can go bait the Seekers to follow you into a site. If it is full of red npc's, there is some decent chance that the guy in the site will not notice what you have done and inadvertantly target (or allow his drones) to attack the Seeker. You gotta be quick and get out before they strip your tank. This is particularly nasty if you can get Drifters to follow you! Again just be quick about it.
Think outside the box and be creative, man. Meta your opponents. Local is another tool at your disposal. |

Mo speaks the truth on this.
One loophole to watch out for - The HS assclown that runs around in an assualt frigate wardeccing indy corps and shooting hulks w/ a frigate. There are several 'elite' BC tools that have 95% of their kills in HS (no crime there) AND (here comes the crime) 95% of thier victims don't have guns on their ships. T2 frig killsT2 mining barge = big points.
When you come up against an 'elite' battleclinic pilot - do a quick sanity check. If you get to page 5 and the most fearsome kill on there is a hulk or condor, then you may want to rethink the threat level on the dude in question.
+1 for MO - he can help you if you reach out to him. |

Yes the Seekers and Drifters can be baited and will go pretty much anywhere. Even through a gate. I have not seen one inside a POS shield but I have seen them reinforce one. Probably didn't have the password. Keep expecting one to GF in local sometime...

So I'm guessing the process is,
1. Probe mish 2. Swap to cheap frig and agro seekers/drifters by shooting once/twice 3. Warp to mish and once in the pocket, warp off and dock in station straight away 4. Undock and warp back to mish to watch
