Quote: Skills no longer train when the owning account is deactivated.
...is one of the VERY anonymous lines on the Patch notes from Revelations that will be released on the 28th.
I find this absurd, I run two accounts, my 'support' character needs some training, so when I set him to train the really long skills (26 days on this case) I usually let the account expire, so I save a little money, or when I go on holiday, if my account expires during the holidays, I wouldn't expect the training to stop in the middle of it all!

I fail to see your point in an inactive character can pose a threat to economics in the game... they are after all inactive. When they are paid for, they will become active again, it's not 'poof, zomg he's uber-powered' after a week of inactivity. The training takes the same amount of time, and when you pay, you pay for a month at a time... at the very least.

Makes sense, really. Why should you have a character improving itself when you're not paying for that character? All it does is encourage people to let accounts die for short times.
From CCPs perspective, thats obviously bad- you get all the benefits as if you were paying for an account, while CCP get less money.
It was a fun little feature while it lasted, but I don't bame them for removing it. -----------------------------------------------

My account is currently "suspended", and I have a long skill training. Will that skill stop training when Kali is deployed?

Agree completely, It was great while it lasted but people should realise that this was one of the few games letting people do this kind of character development without paying, point is you were getting something for nothing from a business. That isn't fair or the way the world works and people need to wake up to it, sure it will effect me but i understand the motive and reasoning and do not blame them.

I'll have to admit, I do see the point of view of CPP
That said, it's sad to remove such a feature that really makes this game stand apart from ALL other games. True, you can still train offline, but the other method will keep attracting the player returning... because they know that their characters have improved, while the player forgot all about it (well, almost forgot!)
I know this, because I speak from experience. I was away from Eve for several months but I was guided back to the path and the light, and my character could fly the Retriever, when I returned!

How is it an exploit, you idiot? Until a few days ago this was listed as a feature under My Account (and was steathily deleted by CCP, I see, sigh).

They just tripled the full time eve staff from 50 to 150 and added a buttload of temps.. ( 700 was mentioned somewhere.. ) The people cutting the checks are gonna need every penny to pay all that new blood.. So you get something that was a bug from day one fixed to help make eve better than ever.. thats a fair trade I'd guess.. KALI:Revelations.. Putting the Waaaa back in Piwat.. |

It was not an exploit by itself, but many people did overuse it. It was a bug, first of all as you may very well see at Kierons post. And the fact that people abused it so much both in Serenity and TQ, made them decide that is something need to be fixed.
And for the record you don't have to call people names. You can pass your question/point without using that kind of language.
Furthermore if you don't pay why is that character of your supposed to be trained? I fail to see the logic of this. You are progressing in a game that you don't play and don't pay.

I agree on this one However, I think it's good to ask why features that are thought to be good (by only some, it appears ), are removed from the game.
I'm not saying that it's wrong, but I just like a good explanation (without the name-calling, please).
It is limited how you can use this excessively, as you pay for a month at a time. I would see the point in this, if you paid by the day or less.

And to give myself an answer...
If it was a bug, not a feature of the game, it's fine that they remove it. But as it was introduced, it seems morelike CCP tried to 'silently' take it out of the game, hoping noone will notice
There are after all 30.000+ players at the game... Someone WILL notice!

Flaming? lmao!! your the one flaming the DEVS over something that was an exploit in my book and basically never should have been allowed in the first place.
Oh ill just leave my skill training while I quit the game and exploit the system so I wont have to PAY in order to advance.

Yes! And now with skills training to be halted when account is no longer active, can CCP introduce skill training queues? Pretty please.
I do not want to wake up in the middle of the night just to train a skill.

I don't think it's so much that they caved, rather I think that on Serenity they can't let inactive accounts train as per Chinese law and someone told us some Serenity info rather than TQ info.
