HI i wonder how the new fleet bonus system works. Yesterday i wqaas playing with 2 accounts and i converted gang to fleet..i hade to convert my fleet commander to squad leader and join to get the bonus. I info it say that squad members can get bonus from fleet commander and others but i wasnt getting it.

OK with some more playing and re-reading of t0mb's sticky the only way to give gang bonuses is if the same 2 players are in the same squad and the guy giving the bonuses is the squad commander.

I got the same. It's because if a squadron or wing has no commander, it becomes inactive. You'll see the little red light next to the squadron or wing. When it's inactive, it gets no bonuses. I'm not sure the proper way to make a fleet of less than 4 to get bonuses. Either you have to make the guy with the skills a lower commander (wing or squadron), which sucks because he can no longer use the tools/powers of the fleet commander, or you'll have to make each member a commander at some level and I'm not sure you can have any squadrons with no members other than the commander. Needs testing. _______________

I believe the minimum size of "Fleet" you can have that allows a Fleet Commander position is 11.
1 Fleet Commander 2 Wing Commanders 4 Squadron Commanders (2 for each Wing Commander) 4 Regular Pilots (1 for each Squadron Commander).

I hope not. I'm an armored warfare specialist and most of my gangs are 4-6 in size. _______________

You can promote your gang to a fleet and demote the fleet commander into a squad, so you don't need fleet and wing commanders at all. I had a fleet (well squad) with just 2 in and with my leadership bloky as squad commander the gang bonuses went to all. ___________________________________________ http://www.eve-tutor.com

I did so! I changed fleetcommander to squadleader and made the other guy squadmember thats the only way i could get the bonus but the info says otherwise...it says the squadmembers can recieve bonus from fleetcommander...wing commander...squad leader

Ive just tried it and yep it dont work. I dont want to be able to create a fleet as I would like to get the bonuses in gangs as small as 2. What I want to be able to create is a squad without the fleet or wing so that the squad members all get the armoured warfare gang mod bonuses

Ah, that would explain it. Was testing mining and found fleet commander gang skills weren't applying to squad members, though dev blog had seemed to say they should.
This is actually quite a serious issue, not so much in stopping small gangs benefitting from a commander (though as you say it's annoying if it deprives you of FC facilities) as in stopping small gangs benefitting from multiple commanders e.g. what if you have a gang of 3 command ships?

I remember that this methodology was proposed several years back. Since it has returned, and is being implimented, the load from gang skill adjustments on the server has not only reached overload but has even been anticipated.
With the new method having 3 Command ships in one squadron may very well be overkill as only one can have his bonuses apply. This creates a strategical level of thought in the game as far as fleet creation is concerned.
However I feel it also creates artificial commanders. Some people who have the appropriate skills are not the people anyone would choose to lead, at all.
But we've had a few years of the other way, which is being obsoleted, I'm inclined to weather the bumpy ride till this one matures as well. Hopefully not just before it too is obsoleted. >winks<
