I've heared that in Kali you'll be able to see a ship on scanner even if it's cloaked. Also you will be able to find cloaked ship on his SS with scan probes.
So the main question is whether it is intended feature that CCP is bringing to us or some kind of weird bug? Imo this isn't logical at all. What for are cloaking devices at all if you can scan and probe cloaked ships?!
If anyone knows anything about this issue please post your info here. It would be really great. -------

You could try searching first, this is probably the 10th thread in which this is asked and probably the 5th which is started just to ask this question.
On SiSi you can NOT scan NOR probe for cloaked ships, it works just like it work on TQ. ---------------------------------------- A Guide to Scan Probing in Revelations |

Hmm, strange. I saw several say that cloaked ships are scannable... hmm. Maybe they were all misinformed?
Well, if it is true, it is good news anyway!
It's great playing Caldari-online, isn't it?

Yup, they are misinformed, because they misinterpreted an image in a devblog and didn't bother to test it themselves. The only source for "you can probe cloakers" that I'm aware of is the final image in this devblog: http://myeve.eve-online.com/devblog.asp?a=blog&bid=383
Note that it doesn't say anywhere that you can probe cloakers, it just shows a Cheetah (covops ship) in the scan results. How do you know that it's cloaked? YOU DON'T.
That's it - the only "evidence" there ever was that you could probe cloakers. Hoshi's tested it extensively on SiSi, it can't be done.

You know it is interesting how the human mind works, wishful thinking and fears makes us remember things that have not happen.
I too clearly remembers that tomb said cloaked ships would be scannable but looking back at his posts and devblogs there just isn't such a statement to be found.
There where 2 things that by taking them to their extremes where interpreted as the ability to find cloak ships by people that either feared it would be true or prayed it would be.
One is the screenshot linked above the other is sentence from the blog back in june:
Quote: The factors used on the objects for this mini-battle are signature radius (big is bad) and scan strength (high is good), where frigates are commonly harder to find than battleships/ capital ships, while recon based ships are in general the hardest ships to find.
The thing here is the fact that there is nothing here about cloaked recons, just recons, and we now know that uncloaked recons are very hard to find due to their high sensor strength.

Gah, I had a feeling someone was going to find something like that...
Ok, I stand corrected, but he's still wrong :P

Even if they do change it to allow probing cloaked ships, you're almost 100% safe unless you go afk for hours. Scan probing isn't nearly accurate enough to land you close enough to your target that they'll be easy to decloak.
However, it would make it so that a few dedicated searchers could find a stationary afk cloaked ship after several hours.

Actually it is accurate enough to land right onn top of him, specially now with warp to 0. Probably one reason they didn't allow for cloaked ships to be probed. ---------------------------------------- A Guide to Scan Probing in Revelations |

What about TOMB's post?
Or was this just something that they were thinking of, but decided to not do?

What about it? it was posted 5 months ago. Lots of things change in that time.
Is it possible it is a bug that you can't probe for cloaked ships? Yes
Is it probable it is a bug that you can't probe for cloaked ships? No, because they way probing and warping is now implemented it would be overpowered. He said it would be possible to probe for them but not uncloak them, but with the current system you have 100% chance of uncloaking them if you are given maybe 10-20 min time while if he is afk. ---------------------------------------- A Guide to Scan Probing in Revelations |
