In six years I always refused to use recurrent payments GǪ As I was in "pause" for about 3 weeks, I've been notified by Paypal that CCP charged me automatically. They apparently changed some rules and now an auto billing seems to be necessary to maintain subscription. Instead of warning me they decided to take money directly from my wallet, as it was a natural way of doing thingsGǪ personally I find its a particularly dishonest way to act. I've been forced to cancel the punctures directly at the source blocking them at paypal. This the very first time I have been confronted with such a behaviorGǪ I'm kinda disillusioned I must say
hope its not the sign of a general degradation in terms of services

So in six years this is the first time it's happened, by your own words. You also state it happened b/c of some changes in CCP's policies that apparently you weren't made aware of. Okay that's not great but I hardly the need for disdain, even if I take your word at everything you stated it's one time in six years that you are mildly inconvenienced that's a pretty good track record.
Either way I would think a note to Customer Support and not a random post on the forums would probably be the better course of action. That said I generally find that if you don't want your account to auto recur just cancel the sub as soon as you pay for it. I personally don't play EVE full consistently, I'll go for months at a time, hell some times years w/o even playing and then I might come back for a month or two here and there b/c I get nostalgic. Because of how sporadic my play is I usually just cancel my sub soon as I activate it just so I don't forget and get charged more months than I want; simple. |

Pay by paypal, then immediately cancel the subscription; IIRC automated payments is on the drop down of why you're cancelling, it takes a few clicks and about 10 seconds to do every month.
Civilized behaviour is knowing that violence is barbaric, but paying other people to do it is business.

When you manually subscribe, or reup an account through paypal, There is a little box on the confirm page that enables Recurring payments. Untick that box, and you will only be charged for that one subscription, and you will not be auto charged for the next one.
Otherwise, if you feel there was an error and you DID untick that box (( Its enabled by default )) you can always Send in a Support ticket under Billing and the GM's can help you with that.

You learn something new everyday, I've been paying by paypal and then cancelling the sub to stop recurring payments.
TY for the info.

Seriously? THX for the tip. Will bring a magnifier to find the tick box, though...
73% of EVE characters stay in high security space. 62% of EVE subscribers barely PvP. 40% of all new accounts just "level up their Ravens". Probably that's why PvE content in EVE Online is sub-par and CCP is head over heels for PvP...

In fact I was very very irritating yesterday as you sawGǪ I don't complain about 15Gé¼ and I don't want to be refund, thats the commercial method I don't liked it very much. Obviously CCP isn't dishonestGǪ my apologize about this
Anyway, I will do as explained, canceling immediately after payment GǪ or use ETC even its not very handy . |

That explains a lot, In France this practice (Opt in / Opt out) is forbidden by the law. All recurring process request must be "unticked" by default and need a manual action from the customer to tick it. I'm in habit not to be anxious about thatGǪ thats why. |

While I see that may be a thing in France, the internet isn't just France. I always read and check what boxes are doing before clicking accept, no matter what site I am on. The fact you seem not to, is really down to you.

Just a little thing you apparently do not understand, I DID NOT HAVE TO CHECK ANYTHING BECAUSE CCP CHARGE ME AUTOMATICALLY. its that clear enough ? You may have time to read every EULA's from top to bottom and decrypt any 4 px tall paragraphs, but its not the case of everyone here.
I suggest an admin close to thread now, as it seems to attract haters that doesn't give a **** about the main subject.

There is NO standard as far as boxes are concerned. Some sites have them ticked, some do not. Sometimes a ticked box is accepting something, other times you need to remove a tick to accept. There is no standard.
This is why I suggest you read all the boxes and associated text before accepting a contract online. It has nothing to do with the EULA, it's to do with handing over cash and making sure you don't pay more.
For example, there is quite a lot of 'free' software out there. But unless you look out for ticked or unticked boxes when installing them, you can become tied into trial or get 'extra' bits of software installed that you didn't want. Is that the fault of the developers? Or the fault of the user not reading correctly before accepting the installation?
You must be very new to the internet to not know the pitfalls, either that or you're not being completely honest.

Seems like this is more a paypal issue, than a CCP issue.
Please talk to billing or paypal, crying on forums won't get you your money back... especially since you yourself admitted this is a once every 6 years event, can CCP/billing/paypal not make a mistake? |

One small thing i'd suggest, is that you read every eula, specifically the payment parts. There was a notification before this change went into effect and had you read that, you'd have known to check your settings ;) |
