Hi,
I play EVE one month and this is just awesome game :)
I have a few questions regading skills:
1. Salvaging and Salvaging Drones How exactly are connected skills Salvaginng Drones and Salvaging. Salvaging Drones increase salvaging chance, but Salvaging do it as well. What is the best combination for salvaging wrecks? Salvaging V and Salvager II or Salvaging V and Savaging Drones V. Maybe in the second option there is no reason to train Salvaging to Lvl V, huh?
2. Shield Compensation (kinetic/Thermal/Explosive etc) Does this skill (for example Thermal Shield Compensation) is an universal skill (works always like Shield Management) or this skill works only with specific equipment.?
3. This same question for Armor Compensation skills
4. Skill Repair Systems Is it useful? I received this skill doing tutorial missions and IMO this skill sucks. I preffer to fit my ship with more useful modules than repairers. Am I right? |

Questions 2 and 3 has been answered in a topic that is between pages 1-3 I believe,I'm too tired now to dig them out.Do you mind doing that yourself?
Even though EVE is an overly-cerebral game, don't forget to have fun and enjoy it!

Hi,
Glad you're enjoying Eve
I'll try and answer your questions, and others can correct me if I'm wrong and add info as appropriate.
1. The Salvaging skill is a prerequisite for the Noctis, Salvager I module, Salvager II module and Salvage Drone I and it provides "Proficiency at salvaging ship wrecks. Required skill for the use of salvager modules. 100% increase in chance of salvage retrieval per additional level"
Salvage Drone Operation is "Skill at controlling salvage drones. 2% increased salvage chance per level."
2. The shield compensation skills are for passive shield tanks using the Shield Resistance Amplifier modules i.e. EM Ward Amplifier II, Explosive Deflection Amplifier II, Kinetic Deflection Amplifier, Thermic Dissipation Amplifier.
These T2 variants give a resistance of -37.5% (bonus) compared to their active counterparts the shield hardeners e.g. Thermic Dissipation Field II which gives a -55% (bonus), but with the advantage that they require no capacitor to run and so cannot be switched off by Energy Neutralizer modules fitted by other players, or used against you in some missions / anomallies. They also require less CPU to fit than their active counterparts so can be useful when there isn't enough CPU on a ship to fit an active tank.
As a general rule, use the active tank modules as they provide greater resistances and can be overloaded.
3. The Armor Compensation skills refer to the Energized Plating modules e.g. Energized Explosive Membrane II which gives a -37.5% (bonus) and requires no cap to run compared to the active modules i.e. Armor Explosive Hardener II which gives a -55% (bonus) but requires capacitor to run.
I'd say its worth training these skills as there's the "Energized Adaptive Nano Membrane II" which gives a -20% (bonus) to all damage types.
Here's the thread that LordOdysseus refers to Armor Compensation skills
4. Repair Systems Skill - worth training? depends on the ship.
There are ships where the tank is so paper thin or they're specialised such that slots are better utilised for other modules, but If you intend to use an armor tank at any future point in Eve, and will be shooting at stuff thats shooting back at you, then train this skill to V asap. Its a rank 1 skill, so one of the quickest to train and you can get it to level IV in under 21h.
You might find Evemon useful to download.
It allows you to browse skills, ships and items and to see whet skills are required to fly and use specific items. You can also create training plans as appropriate.
Have fun |

Just to add a bit.
Salvager IIs have by far the highest chance to access a wreck per cycle. However, if you only fit one of them as opposed to five salvage drones, the drones will likely salvage most wrecks faster because they get five rolls versus the one from the ship-mounted variety. Both have their uses. A dedicated salvage ship (Noctis or otherwise) with a nearly full rack of salvager IIs will generally clear a wreck field fastest.
Compensation skills have been covered, but it's worth noting that armor tanks actually have two options for passive modules: energized adaptive membranes and energized membranes. Both benefit from armor compensation skills and the fact that the two omni resist modules for armor are passive (energized adaptive nano membrane and adaptive nano membrane) mean that armor comps are worth skilling. Shield comps are niche but can allow a pretty decent capless tank.
Just train repair systems. You'll fit an armor repper sooner or later. |

You can take them into fleet and make them warp to you. 2. You can pull a BM from your bookmark list and directly drop it to your cargo/hangar, then trade/contract/jetcan it for them to use. You can install such itemized bookmark back into the list - you have to if you are going to use it. |
