After discussing the issue with a few friends, we came to think there is some important part missing in the Expedition Frigate-gameplay style (apart from sucking up gas of course). What if there was a kind of black-ops style boosting industrial, that could potentially also compress ore? Doing a foray into a quiet part of 0.0 with a group of frigates and one of those might just make that at least not completely pointless. You could have one one Prospect scouting, looking for a viable ore site to exploit open up a covert cyno, the Expedition industrial bridges in the rest of the fleet, jumps in itself and you could start your mining op. Bringing live and therefore potential content into un-/underused parts of space.
The expediotion industrial should only be able to bridge Expedition Frigate and Blockade Runner-Style ships to keep it from infringing upon the role of Black-ops BS, have the same jump range and similar fuel requirements and be in the price range of about 400-500m as well as having barely any defensive and no offensive capabilitys.
Said ship could look something like this (cap/mobility numbers not really of import at the moment ):
Surveyor
Industrial Command Ships bonuses (per skill level): 40% bonus to Survey Scanner range 1,5% bonus to Mining Foreman Links effectiveness Expedition Frigate bonuses(per skill level): 40% bonus to Tractor Beam range 10% bonus to ship ore bay capacity Role Bonus: GÇó Can use 2 Warfare Link modules simultaneously 90% reduction to effective distance traveled for jump fatigue 99% reduction in Mining Foreman Link and Covert Jump Portal Generator fitting Requirements Can compress Ores located in ship ore bay Can only bridge Expedition Frigate and Blockade Runner Class Ships
Slot layout: 4 H, 3 M, 3 L 2 Rig Slots, 400 Calibration Fittings: 50 PWG, 230 CPU Defense (shields / armor / hull) : 450 / 500 / 1300 Base shield resistances (EM/Therm/Kin/Exp): 0 / 40 / 70 / 50 Base armor resistances (EM/Therm/Kin/Exp): 50 / 51.25 / 67.5 / 10 Capacitor (amount / recharge rate / average cap per second): 700 / 280s / 2.5 Mobility (max velocity / agility / mass / warp speed / align time): 170 / 6.5 / 1000,000 / 4.5 / 9.83s Drones (bandwidth / bay): 0 / 0 Targeting (max targeting range / Scan Resolution / Max Locked targets): 70km / 200 / 10 Sensor strength: 25 magnetometric Signature radius: 50 Ore Bay: 10000 Cargo capacity: 200 Fuel-Bay capacity:625 Jumpdriveconsumption: 100 Jumpdrive-Range: 8 Jumpcapacitorneed: 0.6
What do you guys thing of the Idea? Too out there? Useless? OP? Just wanted to put this out there. Please leave feedback

it should be a T2 industrial, or perhaps T2 orca, not frigate sized, if it's bridging BR's
EDIT, it would also need a new bridge, as the black ops bridge is the one with the 'this ship can jump' properties
For posting an idea into F&I:
come up with idea, try and think how people could abuse this, try to fix your idea - loop the process until you can't see how it could be abused, then post to the forums to let us figure out how to abuse it.....
If your idea can be abused, it WILL be.

I was keeping it small just to kind of keep the flavour. What kind of bridge is being opened is less important then there being an option like this at all imo |

You do realise that this would put a massive dent in the various power projection nerfs we keep getting handed, right? |

sure do, but it qouldn't really be much of a dent, yes ppl would fly "battle prospects" but you do realise prospects don't get the "industrial" jump-fatigue (that is if I'm not mistaken), therefore still limiting force projection in a similar way it already is for "normal" black ops ships |

Yes, it would.
It's not about battle prospects, it's about hopping 8LY at a time with a 90% reduced fatigue to wherever you want to go. You can't even be stopped with a cyno jammer at this point.
Your ship would be the ultimate in fast travel. Everyone who ever thought about living in null would want several. |

ok, hadn't thought of it that way, fatigue reduction might have to be way smaller or completely removed then, good point |

Bridges and jumps in a subcap hull pretty much period infringe upon some uses of a blops ship.
As it is, it's an orca, but MUCH smaller. And with a jump drive. And almost impossible to scan right out of the box. And it can bridge. Oooh, and it has huge align speed increases from a single nano, so it can end up bouncing around like a pinball. and and and.

So basically it's a Rorqual.... But with Black Ops jumping also? |

Boosting wise it's a lesser Orca, hard to pind down, yes. Would love to force it being an on-grid booster to expose it somewhat more, but I'm not sure any amount inv incentive could bring people to expose it thus. Jumping/Bridging wise it would be a very limited version of a Blops in terms of what it actually can bridge, the main defense, as noted, being its high sensor strength and high mobility, partially offset by rather lackluster slot-layout |

Don't say that! I'm trying to sell one! You are scaring away all my potential customers!
On topic, no. Your proposed ship is totally OP.

I'd rather see it as a covert-ops ship, or perhaps merely a command industrial. That's be neat: an industrial that can fit ganglinks and hold/compress ore. It'd be a subcap version of the Rorqual for smaller fleets. It'd need to be much slower and less efficient at compressing ore, and of course it wouldn'thold nearly as much ore as a Rorqual nor have any of its other various special functions.
Give me a top hat.

So, basically like a Rorqual, but even more useless. Noted.
