What are your opinions on these? I am less then thrilled with the extreme short range. Shouldn't these at least fall somewhere between standard and heavy missiles?

They're sorta a heavy rocket, I think they'd be pretty darn good on a cruiser or BC. Haven't tried them yet as there's none on the market.

Well, if you guys don't want it then i'll take it ^_^ I like heavy missiles, and these almost double the rate of fire. Add this baby on a drake and let 'em loose!
I personally love this little module :P

They work best with a velocity and/or flight time bonus, so yeah they're pretty good on a Cerb.

Only problem with a drake is fitting them onto the grid.

No problem fitting a good tank, Warp Scrambler, Webber, MWD and all Heavy Assualt Tech IIs on a Drake. Rage or Javelins = Yummy Missle Spam.

The whole point is that they are a short range weapon, unlike standard missiles.
People aren't whining because 150mm railguns outrange heavy electron blasters, are they?

They're brillant, the best thing ever. Short (ish) range cruiser firepower with launchers has been lacking for quite a while.
This makes a Caracal worth using in PvP, where with heavies it really wasn't. Cerb's probably just got a whole lot better too.
They're ok on the Drake, but you've got to try quite hard to get that slow pig of a ship to move and hold the what, 13km range, especially when PvPing. That will cost quite a lot of tank/gank firepower.

I wish I had seen this thread before I started my own on the same subject.
The rof for heavy assaults is better than normal heavies but the damage per missile is reduced. I expect the DPS is not that much different (but I could be completely wrong).
So am I correc t in assuming that one is high rof short range and the other low rof long range but similar dps?
What is the advantage of high rof if damage is the same and range is less?
I am asking an honest question because I do not know. Nuke it from orbit. It's the only way to be sure. |

Does anyone can post the fitting requirements for these things?
And also the range with minimum skills and max. skills?

using standard launchers the heavy assaults have 25% more dps than standard heavy missiles, but they have a +20% grid requirement for the launchers

Base range is about 13km on a Drake, with skills of '4-ish'.
Caracal gets 10%/ velocity, which'll take 'em up to _nearly_ 20, maybe.
They do 25% more dps than heavies. Which is just about enough to push a T1 fitted caracal to about 200dps.

About 13km maxed last I looked.
You could get 50% more maxed out in a caracal (range bonus).

Not entirely sure why they thought a ship with such horrendous agility would make a good short range boat, thank god for Javelin.... Until it gets nerfed of course.

its the same reason as there are no F.O.F rockets or torps, even tho they are called "missiles" they are more torp like, its the same reason that guidance precision wont affect them too

Just 25% more DPS with less than 20% range and even less grid for tank? I won't use them... -- This game is still in beta stage |
