With the new contract system in place in the game how will this forum work?
Personally I think I will use the in-game system and just post here the with the item info, like price, region, current bid etc. How about you?
Even though I right now don't like the contact system that much since it's hard to find stuff, was more fun to browse through the latest items on escrow (which you can't now).
Might be smart to try and settle for some sort of "standard" that sellers/buyers use, but that's just my thought.

well, if it works like the escrow system does now, then most of the items won't be able to find from the whole eve.
But if they fixed it and it's actually working i will use it aswell.
Does it have a search function?
*I havn't been ingame yet.
Posting and you!

i think things will carry on as they are, except ingame bids will now be more valid. the forums could be used as a place to put bids if your at work or something and cant get into eve. auctions here will become a lot more like adverts etc, but still be useful

Yeah I hope they keep this forum as it is for the time being. That will ease players' transition to the new in-game auctions and contracts system generally.

This forum will still be used for all GTC / Character sales of course.
I haven't bid on an ingame auction yet, but I'm assuming a few obvious things hve been implemented:
1. You can't bid unless you have the cash to bid - and the cash is reserved all the time your bid is in the lead. 2. Once you've bid you can't withdraw the bid. 3. Once you've started an auction and someone's bid you can't cancel it.
If those 3 basic things work then I can see little use for the forums for actually selling - but they'd still be handy to advertise (so people know what'sfor sale and in which region). Yeah, you pay the small broker fee for ingame auction - but both sides get more security and there's no more of this "hidden reserve" cowdung (aka "I'll decide whether I want to sell after you've kept the cash on hold for a week with the leading bid").

Since the contract system is flashy, but also overcomplicated. It's kinda useless. It's kinda impossible to scan for nice items, unless u are looking for a specific item.
I guess it's decent to escrow people things. but the tax makes it an isk-sink.
I hope these sell forums stay up, or even better will be splitted into sections. Like: -sell characters -sell items -sell ships -sell officer loot -sell blueprint copy's -sell blueprint originals
In addition it would be great if contract system would be simular. And the contracts show less detailed, so they don't take 4 lines of space but go back to the 1 line it used to be. If u wan't more info, click the contract and it shows the details.
For me. I'm kinda thinking about opening a website with info on stuff I want to sell. I don't want to do that, but seems CCP does not give many other options. The sell order forum would be used as advertisement for personal website.
Putting up contracts for BPC's is crap atm. with a max of 16 contracts with maxed skills. Like most BPC producers,I think 16 contracts is not enough to sell the hundreds of bpc's, most have in stock. Other option would be to create another account and make david1 to david6 and have them all 16 contracts outstanding. Still leaves me with a max 96 contracts and 2 accounts I would wanna pay with GTC's. That would up the costs on producing/selling stuff.
Anyways, my thoughts on this. And wrong forum Chribba

Who knows that a T2 BPO is for sale somewhere if its not being posted here? We might aswell get seperated forums for BPOs, GTCs and chars. Dunno how the contract system should change anything here.

Another annoyinmg thing is that the minimum duration of an ingame auction is 1 day.

I agree that things will most likely continue as normal (for the most part) here in the forums mainly since alot of people setup auctions and bid on them when they can't get in game, either from work, in class, or you just don't have time to launch the client and wait for the contracts to load. I still see the Sell Forum as a very viable place to setup sales.

If you are in a corp you can do an extra 10 per the corp skill level. So the maximum is 66 with a one man corp.

Edited by: Argenton Sayvers on 29/11/2006 15:51:56 Actually i predict that these forums will explode with traffic.
1. BPCs 2. Faction Items (no longer on market -> no qicksales to buy orders, no conveniant purchases of mass items like TS EANMs etc) 3. T2 BPOs (if they keep at least 1/5 of their current value) 4. High end officer stuff (needs to be shipped to Jita, people who are not in Jita need to know about it though) 5. Taxes / fees 6. Items on wts are not locked. Items in contracts are locked. You could easily cancel escrow, but canceling contracts is a bit more tricky. 7. 13 Contracts for regular players? People need to keep contract slots open to be able to transfer ("escrow over") stuff easily, so very few slots remain for safe use.

Probably used more than ever, without the ability for people to see a list of all available contracts it is a waste of space.
Unless everyone moves to one system to sell stuff.

tbh, I think CCP have looked at all the things that cause lag and nerfed them, PPl keeping 100's of ppl in address book, insta's escrow from ALL regoins, etc.
Contracts could be better with the sorting and stuff, but I think its a good step forward, not just to tweak it.
