While alot of people can only see the cool looking new ships, I'm looking at alot of the other changes to the game and I must say they have ruined what used to be a great game. Here is a list of some of the ones I hate.
ECM nerf - Makes the jamming ships usless.
Battlecruisers way way too over powered - Why bother flying anything else when the tier 2 battlecruisers can kill most anything with the exception of the T2 versions? The hurricane is just grossly overpowered.
More HP less damage output - All the time I spent to train T2 weapons now seems like a waste.
Scanning system makes no sense at all - Scan probes don't use scan probe launchers, now they use recon probe lanchers, which of course are not even in the game. So scanning for ships is out.
NPCs don't show up on scans - Why?
Armor rep drones no longer can repair my combat drones. That was about all they were good for to me anyways.
Gang system made more complicated for god knows why. All you need for a gang is to be able to warp to other members. It was fine the way it was.
Everytime you jump though a gate the camera is reset so that you can't see anything around you. Stupid. And if you try to zoom out you are end up in the map.
Salvage system takes survey level 5. This means that most people won't bother with it cuz they got better things to train leaving wreckage all over the place. Just imaging the lag problems that will cause. Survey 3 would have been more reasonable.
Jumping though gates has become a big hassle. I sat waiting to jump for over 40 min. today and it wasn't even a traffic control problem.
Drones are named alvi for some stupid reason. who came up with that anyways? What is the point to adding that to a drone?. It's still just a drone.
Drones can't target wrecks for some reason...dunno why.
These are just some of the stupid, usless, "improvments" that didn't need to be done and have ruined EVE IMO. The game was fine the way it was. All we got was a bunch of skills to train up just to try and get back to where we were.
What CCP has done is "upgraded" all the fun out of the game.

You dont seem to like changes, I think that is the main problem here, no offense, I enjoy playing around with the new toys and find new ways to overcome new and old problems, so its great for me.
Edit: However I do agree that mechanic and survey lvl 5 is a bit much for salvaging

Sheesh, Revelations has been out on Tranq. for one day and people is already starting "hate-new-patch-imleaving-the-god****-game"-threads. Give em a break for chrissakes, i mean whatever they notice that wont be working will be fixed in smaller patches along the way. This first time will be like a shorter testingperiod for everyone so dont give up so easy man. And if you are just the type that cant stand changes, then i guess you just have to leave.

I have to agree with a lot of this thread. There are a lot of new features, ships, etc That are nice... Unfortunately, the game-play changes below have nearly destroyed my (and nearly everyone I know and play with) enjoyment of it. Perhaps I will adjust, but right now, it's incredibly horrible! Here's my 2 cents on a few problems. Maybe these belong in a bug report....
Zoom distance resets on each jump. This was not a problem on the test server (I know) so I can't figure out why it broke when deployed. Here's a hint to the Devs... If it's working, STOP! Leave it alone!
When entering systems after jumping there is a white flash that is quite painful on the eyes. This is a physical discomfort and therefore a safety/health issue and should get high priority.
You made the in-game browser even crappier! Congratulations on that one... I worked for days trying to get a simple forum/BB site up for our corp to use. Anything has to be better than corp mail for communications. After the update nearly every page says 'Page not supported'. Nice... Thanks for that... How about this... Take ONE of those 200 or so Devs you have and let them create a USABLE browser, or remove the ****ed thing altogether! It sucked before, and it sucks even worse now... Why not just @#$%ing license a simple IE Control or Firefox and create a REAL browser!!!
Now... Those 3 were little, whiny, issues (well, the browser is a HUGE one, actually). Let's talk about those @#$%ing wrecks all over the place! We thought the cans and containers anchored all over the place were an eyesore and a processor sinkhole. These wrecks are a nightmare!!! I've done some minor ratting/missions to see how things are, and these wrecks are the worst thing I've ever seen! Most are empty (no loot at all), and when you have anywhere from 3-30 of them (plus any left behind by another person) it's impossible to keep them straight! How the friggate do you expect anyone to actally collect loot from a mission or ratting when there is no way to designate which wrecks have been looted? What you end up with (and it's happening already everywhere) are wrecks with loot still in them, left by other people who got disgusted with trying to collect it, taking up a HUGE amount of processing/database resources tracking it all... You all must have been on some serious Icelandic ***** when you came up with this plan... I also agree that the salvage skills needed are way to high... I've been playing a long time, but never got into scanning and the like. Now I feel like a total noob again...
How about a couple of minor changes... Make wrecks have two states. "Lootable" and "Derelic" (did I spell that right?). The Lootable state shows on overview until you loot it, then drops off the list (like the cans did when they popped). The wrecks that are left are derelics that you can add to your overview if you want to salvage them... Otherwise, they stay there for those that want them, but not for those that don't want to be salvagers...
Granted, I like things like the higher HP and all, but I haven't had too much time to test out a lot of the nerfs and boosts...
I do want to thank CCP for one thing... Warp to 0... It's about time... Thank you...
I hope this rant makes some sense... While most of the good things are really good, and I do like them... The two main problems listed above (browser and wrecks) are so HUGELY horrible bad, it could spell the end of things...
Oh, and a P.S....
Do you think someone can finally get rid of this exclamation point on my face... Anyone? I'm getting really tired of being a non-person...

The new scanning system ROCKS. It works INFINITELY better than the old. Yes, they forgot to seed the recon probe launcher bpo, but I am sure they will fix that very soon. It worked wonderfully on sisi.

And it still works exactly the way it did. Except size is limited to 50 and you get no gang bonuses. The new system works great with the yelp buttons and warp gang to member option. You can now have your support gang warp in close and your sniper fleet warp in at 100 while you are still in the same fleet.

Oh noes... have to train a rank 1 skill to level 5. Takes all of 4 days. And it only takes one or two shots to blow up wreaks.

No idea what you are talking about here. Either you hit a queue because the servers were lagging from the upgrade still, or you were doing something wrong.

Get with it. The new contracts system blows escrow away. Warp to 0 is a godsend, as is the color coding in local. The new fleet system is pretty cool. We finally get some specialized professions to explore. No more Russians hogging plexes around downtime - we can find randomly spawning ones anywhere.

whats really funny though, is this will be ignored by the devs whilst they fix the things that arent quiet working yet
AND its only Part 1 of 3 of Revelations, so before you go on a ***** a thon, wait till its fully released, try the new stuff before you moan about it
So what if the tier2 BC's are over powered, look at there prices, there as expensive as BShips, if not more ( based on price of scorpion in The Forge @ approx 65mil, Raven at approx 95mil, Rokh OMGBBQPWNS in at 100mil+ ) --------------------------------------------------

I have already been able to take down the new Amarr BC with a zealot easicly still and had no armor damage by the end of it with 50% cap still.

I have stated thisin other posts, but the new contract system, may seem "intuitive" but did you actually try looking at the courier system before you set this up.
First of alltraining a skill to set up courier missions is like going to collage for organ grinding.
"Here Mr Broker, here is your 3,500 ISK, here is the reward money, this is what I want for colateral from the courier, and this is the start and drop off locations. Have a nice day!"
as many as I can afford to put up is what limit there is on my missions.
now...
"Hi Mr Broker, here is your 16,500 ISK fee, the reward I am posting, the collateral I want from the courier, some mysterious 'deposit' that is slightly higher than the collateral I am asking for ('cough' bribe 'cough'), and the pickup and delivery locations."
now I can only have 15 Courier Missions IF i train a skill to level V. I have had over 20+ missions come in on the same day, let alone the ones still outstanding.
I do business across 3 Regions of space and have 560+ stations with assets in them. I ship these assets to a central location to be processed/refined and then sold to the highest market price available. I then reinvest the profits and continue.
How the heck am I suposed to do my business, do any auctions, Exchange any items, loan any money, or do any freeform contracts when there isn't enough room to do my courier mission contracts even after I train Contracting V.
wait, wait... there is a solution. I forgo my corp and ever being a member of another corp and incorperate myself with the skill Corperate Contracting V. and even that would be a temperary fix.
basically you killed my main form of generating income and the way I have built my character.
Now lets get to the stupid but pretty map.
Some of the other players I play with barely use the map, and found it awkward, but it now is more awkward to use than a combination lock when you are blind drunk.
When in the domain region it is imposible to zoomin on the Citadel Region without selecting a point in the Citidel. Lines are to thin to show well until you zoomin close. Even then often it doesn't kick in right away anyway.
If I use the view assets option to see the systems that have my 560+ stations that have assets, they don't get bigger and change colout with what is in that system like they used to. I used to use these as waypoints when traveling and identifying systems from a distance.
Zooming in and out doesn't always work the way it should and has that painful flash of light that is common when going through stargates.
speaking of space, what is with this stupid going to system map instead of galactic when you leave the station? Am I the only one who checks out autopilot routes on the galactic map in transit??? Come on...

ECM has been nerfed on ECM ships too. This is simplified but:
Old: 6 + 50% (ship bonus) = 9 New: 3+100%(ship bonus) = 6
They halved the strength and doubled the bonus, but that still leaves them considerably weaker than they were.

i think most of the changes are good nice new ships and all this stuff.... the only thing im ****ed off is making all tec II stuff doing less damage then avarage. Thats all bull****.... u call it " way of balancing pvp " thats bull**** it just shows me i was wrong skilling for tec II torp/cruise/s-l hybrid/projectile
Think about the fact that u already gave all ships more hp on shield and stuff like that... now we do less damage .... it will take lots more time to kill someone anyway with hp increase but its not fair u put spend skillpoints in tec II ammo for waste....
lets talk about tec II cruise
The Precision Cruise missile flight time has been decreased to 10 seconds and velocity penalty reduced to 4%.
wasnt this thing ment to kill smaller stuff? - smaller stuff actually flies faster and mostly in orbit what makes missiles unable to fly at full speed like everything else! 10 seconds flightime are not enough to hit since u have always to wait till transversal gets lower result= precision cruise missiles lost its use!
The Fury Cruise missile damage has been decreased to 345 base, cap recharge rate penalty decreased to 5% and flight time decreased to 10 seconds.
whats its range now ? 12 km ? yeah cool those who used fury cruise had boosters like i did Result= u have to jettison and deliver cruise to target = absolutly useless
The Javelin Torpedo base damage has been reduced to 380, flight time reduced to 12.5 seconds, velocity penalty reduced to 4% and explosion cloud increased to 400.
COULD YOU PLS RENAME THIS IN PERCISION CAUSE ITS ACTUALLY NO JAVELLIN ANYMORE...
Result on all the changes : u removed/lowered those" i dont care about things" like velocity penalty and made those very spezific advantages into a tec I alternative missile shame on you ! standard torpedo > java/rage
this goes on with every single typ ingame - dont know about beam/pulse
problem is after every second word i tend to get rude and have to rewrite everything and maybe my acc will get banned and its just not worth it i guess...

If you had read the notes about the new patch and the dev blog entries that where linked in it, you definately wouldn't ask dull questions like "why NPC don't show up in the scanners?". Did you ever read the reasoning on a single change before complaining? Its not too late ;)

Of all the good changes... Warp to 0 is the best.
of all the bad, my number one problem is the blinding/painful flash on jump! Second place is that ignorant "Wrecks" system, but once the skills are trained and the equipment fitted, this will become a non-issue... The rest I haven't had enough time to fully test out because the number one problem limits me to about an hour a game play before I'm so irritated and ****ed off that I need to just log, and go play something that's not flashing in my face every few minutes... |
