CCP's direction on balance changes and game immersion have been fairly successful so far as current players are concerned. They have certainly turned around from the 2011 apology note, which I thought was impressive and much needed. (Dev Blog Here) However, player count on the server is declining despite EvE being the best game its ever been. Here is a thought process on why "opening the door" among other things would be good.
There are a lot of things to be learned from some of the new "space based" games of late. I'm going to keep this TL;DR and allow discussion.
1) Continuance of scene -- Eve is a very beautiful game and has a lot of potential to keep the player immersed but it fails for some simple reasons: ------ a) Undocking is just a black screen ("Cool ship! I wonder what this looks like in space? Oh... Blackscreen...") A simple yet immersion breaking mechanic. At least give us something.
------ b) Sitting in station (bear with me) We all do this a lot weather we like it or not. If I were a space-faring citizen of the universe, the only thing that would convince we to leave my beloved space ship is to look at it's beauty and SIZE from the outside. Too obvious? When I'm walking around in the captains quarters (or just looking at my ship) I struggle to grasp the scale of the ships I own. People have gone to great lengths to portray this scale, and been quite successful! (Ex: Eve Outtakes - Ship Size ) Why doesn't CCP attempt to immerse the player similarly? I say allow us to walk beside our ship, maybe touch it , add high res texture in station only, for no other reason than game immersion.
------- c) Planets, just aren't.
2) Expectation of space -- a) Spaceships (enough said) -- b) Scale (covered above) -- c) Exploring (new places) I know this is coming soontm, but maybe adding places to go, with a small story on why they are there. These places exist but in very rare frequency. Scan-able only and can lead to other cool places.
Yea I lied, actual TL;DR:
OPEN THE DAMN DOOR AND GIVE US A SENSE OF SCALE --> New Players --> Profit for everyone

"Oh sh**, corpmate is tackled, right in front of station!!!" "Let me undock my pownmobile!" "Don't worry my friend, i'm coming for youuuuu!!!" "Aw no, forgot they replaced the 1second blacksreen by a 2 minute animation." An then, the corpmate dies.

"The Door", as you might ask, is the ubiquitous, sealed hatch in each version of CQ and was suppose to be the door leading to the rest of a station's interior once more WiS additions could be made. Since nothing more than CQ ever made it on TQ, that very door remains closed.
Simply put it, he's asking for CCP to continue with WiS content.
"Tomahawks?"
"----in' A, right?"
"Trouble is, those things cost like a million and a half each."
"----, you pay me half that and I'll hump in some c4 and blow the ---- out of it my own damn self."

Absolutely nothing at all. Agreed, this should be locked since there are tons of other "MOAR WIS, CPP!" threads already.

Why would it be an animation? All you would have to do is render the docking bay and let people see themselves undock. Personally I think it'd be sexy to undock, guns blazing.

Well, problem being CCP not agreeing for people having a "nope" button to disable new functionnality... (See all people ranting about the new overview icons?)
