Originally by: Shadoo It's early days still, I personally at least am still adopting to the changes.
I do have to say though, few first fights after kali are much less thrilling for me personally. With the HP increase warping to belts and doing a quick gank & run before the locals come to aid is pretty difficult with the target being BC or above.
Combat in low sec seems to me to be moving towards either a) 5 min NOS + thousand cuts or b) gank fest. Both are indeed what I consider pretty dull. I enjoyed warping to a belt alone in a smaller ship in hopes of a quick thrilling fight. Now it's more like warping to a belt with a nos-whatever, killing target slowly and scanning constantly to see how many gankers arive to help save the day.
Without solo pirating being a thrilling option, pirates will adapt no doubt (thou I've only been in low sec killing business for a short while myself). Low sec will probably end up going towards most 0.0 style roaming gank gang combat (perhaps it has already been so for a while(?), it's my first time in 0.1-0.4 for a year).
It's a shame I think... Most pirates are higher SP than the victims, so of course victims will have to group up and blob. More HP = time enough for anti-pie gang to form up. More chance of getting hit by a anti-pie blob = pirates need to roam in gank gangs.
And here I was looking going into low sec solo combat for a change from the alliance blobbing . Ah well... Have to adapt and find some friends I suppose .
So you plan to hold territory and collect taxes? From a T2 Sydnicate??? Last time I looked the major alliances had an "invade in crater" policy towards indepedents trying to move in. So tell me can you handle the BoB battle fleet and if so um where do I go to join up, sounds like fun.

Not reading all of this
1. stop gate camping and try some real piracy 2. enjoy the wcs change as now everyone you do find belt hunting isn't just going to warp out because he has 3 stabs equiped. 3. with warp to 0 and less gate camping maybe we can finally get supplies to our stations now with less people like you blockading all the merchants. yes i could just go grab stuff with an alt but i'd much rather be able to buy stuff nearby. 4. hp increase. most ships got a small % the sky is not going to fall over this. 5. fast/slow ship does matter in combat still which is all that matters. 6. mod stacking. i'm sure if this was removed somehow things would get really *** really fast

Edited by: Skywalker on 30/11/2006 20:26:11 I agree 100% with Tiller.
I choosed the profession outlaw when i started eve, it was one of the paths a new character could choose from and also advertised at game launch. I am seriously thinking about either quitting the game (after 3y 6months) or stop pirating and join a NBSI alliance. Outlaw profession in my eyes is now dead. People always tell us outlaws to adapt, well then i guess adapting into a ordinary 0.0 pvper is the next step in the evolution. It is nothing i want, trust me, but i am really running out of options here. I remember the days when i could solo camp, and even kill battleships while taking a beating by the sentries. Those days are over and i really miss them. CCP is gearing all pvping towards "blobs" and "gangs". If us pirates are forced out into 0.0, what is then the point in being an outlaw ?
Lets do a comparison... ------------- Alliance membership in 0.0 and getting rid of -10 sec rating:
+ 1. Warp bubbles 2. No sentries 3. No security hits 4. Protection from a large alliance 5. Able to solo pvp 6. Stabs are less needed. 7. You can be 0.0 rated and travel into empire 8. Money making opportunities
- 1. Longer way to empire space 2. Fewer targets then in low sec empire
-------------
Continuing as outlaw in low sec empire.
+ 1. Closer to Empire market
- 1. Easy to get killed in a battleship to a single frigg + sentries because you can't fit stabs and 1400mm II in a proper way anymore. 2. Not able to sit at a safespot and jump in on victims that lack instajumps. 3. You need friends to tackle and also to take the fire. 4. You need a-lot of scouts around 5. Cloaked covert op cruiser can easily uncloak and scramble you when you already are low on HP's because of sentry fire. 6. Harder to catch people now with 0km option, we killed alot of people that actually didn't have instajumps before. 7. Station camping is dead, i used to enjoy killing people at the stations when they didn't have isntajumps. 8. If you are outlaw then you can't go to empire and you need an alt to get your stuff. 9. It's alot harder getting a big alliance made up of outlaws then ordinary pvpers, this is because only like 5-10% of players in game is outlaws.
Claiming space in 0.0 using an outlaw alliance is suicide. You will get blobbed eventually by all major alliances in game. That is what happend to FOE, and that is why we decided that pirate coalition would be a roaming alliance with no home. So we would be hard to destroy. By the looks of it, CCP might actually be the only one able to break Pirate Coaltion up. I hope that won't happen, but alot of my outlaw friends know what i talk about and probably have the same thoughts as me and Tiller.
To summarize it all... Outlaw profession is now to unprofitable risky, risk vs reward is unbalanced. I could cope with this new patch, IF the reward whas in proportion to the risk, but it ain't anymore We are running out of reasons on why we should be outlaws instead of ordinary pvp:ers, or empire warmongers.

To those that call us whiners. We respect your way of playing the game, we shouldn't we get respect for the way we like to play the game.
Just because we play "bad guys" doesn't mean we should be stepped on every time new patches arrive.
As i see it there is a need for the "Dark Side", we love playing evil and it would be really boring if all the evilness ingame was handled between alliances in war with eachother

Well said, this guy is a pirate but you don't see him at the brink of quiting Eve just because they have brought in warp 0km or nerfed your stabs (I think stabs should have been nerfed more than they did but hey can't have everything).

Nope, just a good 'ol fashioned gate camp. So far: - Lots of t2 fitted bs kills - 1 officer fitted vaga kill - 2 tier 2 bc bpo's (one off a noob ship...lol) - All the new scan probe bpo's - Nearly all the new rigging bpo's - All the new assault launcher/missle bpo's - Hundreds of salvaged ships (not much out of this yet, still training so we can salvage t2 wrecks)
We'll be looking into the agent scanning soon. That should add even more profits in the patch which has BOOSTED piracy more than any other in eve.

Yes, but that is with an entire corp. I remember making that kind of isk solo with ease...... having corps pay me several bill just not to shoot them.

Piracy never was the most profitable game in town. But you can still make a decent living while watching lots of pretty explosions.

Are you calling me a carebear ;)
If you're not blowing up players for isk...then you're probably carebearing. Not to say we won't carebear a little too, but that will be mostly for capital ship purchases, not for day to day needs.

Salvaging, new system scanning, and warp to 0km all present new lucrative sub-careers for pirates. I'm sure many will disagree that warp to 0 is good for piracy, but its easier to kill people with warp to 0 than it was when they used insta's.

LOL well you do that and then find you need over 300 parts to build a rig K, then you find only one drops in a ship mostly and its random and unlikey. So are you still gonna build rigs huh? Snigg were the first people that killed this character and you were on the kill mail, I don't know the final blow and all the people that was there. But it was possible, since instas were either not heard of or rare and i choice to fight you people in my blackbird which was ecm fitted to the max. which was old ecm so i could jam one of your moas, it was fun. But its NOT possible now and never will be... cos of whining ********s and now ecm is worse than befor and now pirating will be even worse much much worse. |

T2 wrecks will yeild better drops than T1.
The amount of parts you need to build a rig is irrelevant. If the supply of rigs is low then the cost will be high and that should mean decent profit. Sure you could npc for it all, but camping will give you other loot in addition to the wrecks that will be worth more than npc loot.
