I have a few missions left to complete the SoE.
Im a gal drone pilot.
I was flying a tristan, but I got my ass handed to me by a boss NPC and lost the ship.
The tristan wasn't fully fitted at all. I only had a few modules installed...Armor rep and an afterburner.
IGÇÖll need 12 days to fully outfit a destroyer (lack of skill for power and CPU).
If I bought another Tristan and fully fit it with mods would I be able to complete the SoE? Or should I wait for the destroyer??? |

There are mods implants and rigs to help with powergrid and CPU. You should always fly a fully fit ship or at least as close to it as possible. Your module and rig slots are very important and make a huge difference.
As to if you can do it or not is more up to you. I can tell you that a week old character can finish that mission solo now a new player a week into the game might be a different story. Eve is very much a game about player skill and knowledge and less so about "gear".
Eve is an MMO and the devs at CCP tend to like group gameplay. In this game the answer to I am having difficulty with XYZ on my own will always be bring some friends and if you don't have any now is as good a time as any to make them. With regards to Dagan specifically (or whatever his name is) you can usually ask in local and find someone willing to help.
With regards to the Tristan specifically I would guess you'll want to kite Dagan and let your drones do most of the work. Make sure that you have the proper resists fit. I would do mission specific hardeners back when I used to mission a lot.
eve-survival.org is a good site for mission specific information. I'll link the epic arc page of their site below so you can see all the chapters and pick which is relevant to your situation.

TY for the info.
So it looks like if I cant deal 100 dps... I cant kill Dagan.
Looks like I will need to ask for help, or find a way to deal over 100dps solo and keep my self repaired at the same time.
How can I tell how much damage I will yield with a specific ship build, before I build the ship in game? |

Look at your fitting screen. It should be listed on the right side under your capacitor levels.
Or, you can use the 3rd party program listed here (it's free and safe... avoid the pop-ups).
EVE Fitting Tool
With it, you can fiddle with any and all ships in the game to your heart's desire (without having to spend any ISK). And if you play with the character editor (View > Character Editor > Icon that creates a "new character") you can load up your toon's skills*** for more accurate numbers.
*** EFT will provide you with a link that will take you back to the EVE Online website... which you will log in to... and then create an API key. Rest assured... it will not do anything harmful to your character or your account. It is a "read-only" thing and no one can gain any sensitive details about you as a player or person... it only affects your toon... and only if you share it with others.

As for Dagen... ask in local. There is always a few good samaritans willing to help. Talk with them, ask questions, be personable. If they like you... opportunities may open up.
The exception is if they say "never go to low-sec or null-sec unless you have XX amount of skillpoints" or "PvPers are psychopaths and griefers."
Take advice from those people with a grain of salt. You are already have some capabilities as a character to be useful to others and experience/planning/social skills will count FAR MORE towards your success in EVE than anything else (refer to my signature below)

programs like EFT (what I use) and PyFA let you design ship setups and let you share them. you can find posts in the ships and modules subforum.
this destroyer fits with minimal skills and does 170 dps. I'm basing this on an alt with very little SP. you can use a catalyst with a very similar fit, just change the drone damage amp, to a magnetic field stabilizer. [Group answers: Hi Tau!]
I've lost count of the number of times I've helped people with Dagan. In fact, I helped with Dagan dozens of times before I ever did the SoE arc for myself (there were no tutorials back in my early days).
So yes, ask in local, but if for some reason nobody will help (strange) send me an EVE-mail with your availability time (in EVE time) and I'll see if I can help. |

I have tried this in the past, and it is definitly possible to kill dagan with less than a week of training on a new character, using a tristan. t1 blasters, t1 hobgoblins, t1 drone damage mods and a t1 magnetic field stabilizer using a basic shield tank and very close range can bring you over the magic 100 dps, assuming gallente frigate 3. However, when I tried this, I knew what I am doing and specifically trained to beat the SoE epic arc.
Dagan is designed to be very hard to beat for a new player and likely intended to be done with some help. As others pointed out, however, it should not be hard to find someone to help you. Chances are you'll even see someone looking for help as well, and breaking 100DPS with two frigates is much easier than trying it with just one. |
