Hello all How does one share the C:\ProgramData\CCP\EVE\SharedCache\ info after the new patches?
I have a desktop and latop with limited bandwidth each month.
The normal patch inside C:\Program Files\CCP\EVE I can copy no probs. But each pc still downloads the resource files separately
And to copy the whole folder each time......
Is there another way?

Tx There's software for that, backup software specifically. It will allow you to only back up changes you can then deploy on the other folder. Google helps.

Yeah I'd just copy that whole folder on your home network or to a USB drive. You can get a 32 GB one for under $20 that'll fit the whole cache. Then paste that as needed and use the launcher to point it at the new one (or put it in the same spot)

It really wouldn't be General Discussion if people did.
Since the cessation of their usefulness is imminent, may I appropriate your belongings?

The full client includes the patch + all the resources, and can be installed on multiple machines.
Is that not what is wanted? |

I believe that OP is looking for some way to share the changes to the resource cache automatically between multiple installations vs each installation downloading the updated resource cache data in order to save on monthly data charges.

Perhaps use a network shared folder?
Personally I'm paranoid about touching client files. |

rsync, as mentioned, is certainly one way to do it.
Sync toy http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=15155 is another.
http://lifehacker.com/372175/free-ways-to-synchronize-folders-between-computers describes a way to use it.
you have a few options, from sharing the shared cache over the network, to the remote machine, and using sync toy, or syncing to a usb stick, then syncing at the other end.
Obviously, don't do this while the client or launcher is running.
Woo! CSM X!

1. Update cache only on one PC (like desktop). Enable "download all resources" in launcher if you like, but I prefer invoking "rescache.exe download" manually to download all current cache from CCP servers.
2. Install Syncthing on both machines. Basically extract archive anywhere you like and run exe, wait couple of minutes and open http://127.0.0.1:8384/ to see the web GUI.
3. Exchange DeviceID's on both your devices (getting start guide helps!).
4. In desktop Syncthing create folder record for your EVE cache and point it to eve cache location. Also select "Folder Master" option so the laptop couldn't change files on desktop. Allow laptop device access to this folder.
5. Repeat previous procedure in your laptop. After this sync over LAN should start when sync programs are running on both PC's.
Try it.

Thanx for this speedy but that option only copies the patch file inside ccp/eve folder not resources :( |

I am not sure how EVE will react if you sync the cache while both clients are running. If that is no problem you may as well actively sync the directories with something like this:
https://www.getsync.com/
Or the open source alternative (still alpha): https://syncthing.net/
They will sync the directory over the lan as the data changes. So as soon as one of the clients downloads a file it will sync that to the other machine and you don't have to download it twice.
EDIT: Just noticed that Sarmatiko already mentioned that :-)
