I'm wondering if someone else have the same graphics prob as me. If I enter an area were there is combat ocuring (dont matter if it's via undocking, jumping thru stargate or regular in-system warping)I get a loud "KLACK" from my machine and it re-boots. I have tried both older and new driver for my graphics card but it dont matter, prob remains. Had the same prob even before the Revelations patch. Earlier I could prevent it by opening the map before reaching the area, but not sure if that still works.
Does anyone know how to fix this?

theres not that many moving parts inside a PC that could make that noise.
On the assumption that its a mechanical noise I'd suggest that it may be your hard drive.
try copying your eve client to another disk and running it from there?
or does the 'klack' come from your speakers?, does it only occurr with eve as well?

The sound dosent com from the speakers but from the machine, and I dont think it's the harddrive. It similar to the noice I get when shutting it down manually (a not as loud "klack"). I suspect that the prob is related to some kind of graphic card overload, since it only happen when entering an area were combat is ocuring.

There arent many parts in a computer that could make that noise. I would highly suspect the Hard drive. Graphics cards only have a fan that moves, but if that slowed down it wouldnt cause a reboot. When loading an area it does put strain on the hard drive. I had a hard drive that made a similar sound when doing most things, i would recommend backing up all major data because that is a sign that your HDD is failing.
Another reason why I suspect your hard drive, is new drivers (and old ones) didnt help, also the problem continued after this patch. Im willing to place a bet that it is the beginnings of a hard disk failure. Beware.

Thanks for the advice. I will try changing hard drive for my eve client.
Althou I'm not sure that is the problem. It's a bit hard to corectly decribe the sound that ocurs, but it's a louder version of the same sound the comes when manually shutting down the computer. (kind of like an magnetic switch) And it only ocurs in EVE, and only when entering an area were combat is ocuring.
But as said I will try and change the client to another drive and test it, if it goes away after that then..... time to get a new hard drive.

Edited by: CharlieMurphy on 01/12/2006 06:04:23 if it is the hard drive i would go out and buy a new one now
if your hard drive is going "klack" then every time you use it your shortening its life and when it finally does go your going to lose alot of the data thats on it
btw if its an ibm drive i would be double worried
having said that there are a few graphics bugs in the latest patch
edit:if you stop using it now and fit a new one when you have your pc up and running again you will probably get most of the stuff off it every use is bringing it closer to total failiar tho beleive me i had this happen

First thing i would do is turn off automatic restart, My Computer / Properties / Advanced / Startup & Recovery / and untick Automatic restart. with this turned off you might get some incite (ie blue screen) into what's causing it.
Also if you motherboard allows it, as soon as it crashes check the temperature.
This wont fix anything but it may help you find what's happening. additonal: how many clients are you using.

Edited by: Aldarion VonLucifer on 01/12/2006 08:41:08 I have now re-instaled EVE on a diferent hard drive. But I have no way of maually chek if it works, I can only wait and see if it dosent work.
About number of clients: I'm only running one client.
The klack sound dont seem to come frfom the hard drive, rather from the power supply unit, and that one is brand new.
