In other MMOs I have seen that items being manufactured/crafted by players have a "Crafted by: $charactername" attached to them. This could be a nice feature for industry players to get their name out by placing a similar label on the Show Info dialog for each item. This could make the industry sides of things a bit more personal. Additionally a "Crafted at: $date" could be added as well.
If at some distant point in time this info would be exposed via killmails as well, you could generate really nice maps on how your industry efforts impact fights throughout the galaxy. |

Looking at your "like" count it seems you are a regular here. I am not, so I am not familiar with what kind of discussions happened here before. I think - even if the topic has been discussed before - it is valuable to post it again, as it offers CCP a view of what kind of features people are still looking for.
For the record, I did the recommended step of "Before posting, please check the listing of commonly proposed ideas below to see if there's already a topic open. ". That list is currently empty :)

The problem here is, that each packaged item is just a number, so that identical items can be stacked. Any custom variable would need the item to be assembled, like the insurance variable, which is void and gone when repackaging the ship. This would only work if you would sell those items/ships assembled per contract, then it could have a custom variable like "manufacturer".
TL;DR: CCP would have to change the whole item system to make this all happen.

And in regards to forum police rule 17, the forum search is broken at the moment, so I cant easily search for related topics for which this might be a duplicate of.
